  • Happy Teachers' Day! 💓 Today, we celebrate the educators who have shaped our lives and inspired us to become who we are. Think back to the teachers who guided you, encouraged you, and made a difference. When they took care of so much, how were they taken care of? In conflict-impacted regions of Kashmir, Teach to ELICIT fellows work towards building well-being for students. These educators play multiple roles; they model constructive thinking and practice persistent action in a place that has led children to lose their agency to think long-term and beyond despair. And hence this work takes a heavy toll on the teachers themselves. They face burnout, stress, and emotional fatigue, and often find it difficult to uplift themselves through it. But we can help this through our offerings of care ELICIT is raising funds to provide mental health support for teachers in Kashmir. Our goal is to offer professional support, helping them maintain their wellbeing so they can continue inspiring and uplifting their students. Your Support Can Make a Difference: Donate ₹1,000 to fund a therapy session for one teacher. Donate ₹2,000 to support one teacher's mental health sessions for a month. Donate ₹24,000 to provide a year's worth of mental health support for one teacher. Your contribution will build resilient teachers who work on building mindful classrooms that can eventually build a stronger community of learners and well-being practitioners. If you are unable to donate at this time, you can still make a difference by sharing this message with your friends and family. https://lnkd.in/dg-YFCat

Captured from this Friday's poster presentation! 😊 What an intense day, packed with people teeming in to read, ask, and discuss the work of the organization I interned with- ELICIT Foundation's Teach to ELICIT program. Time flew by, the conversations bubbling one person after another, my energy and effort palpable to onlookers and observers. I immersed myself in answering their curiosities, sharing my field stories, and drawing my reflections. I had turned 3 weeks of that internship into 6. To share the teaching journeys of some of those very special people I had the honor of working and living with was exhilarating and deeply satisfying. Hours passed, without much recognition of the passing of time. As peers stood flabbergasted at the effort I had put into a non-graded no-pressure presentation, I simply said, It's a labor of love. And it is. I'm still reeling after Friday's presentation at Azim Premji University. Now's a good time to check out ELICIT Foundation's work in improving educational outcomes in 3 schools in South Kashmir.

𝑭𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑭𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 : 𝑨𝒏 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏'𝒔 𝑱𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝑳𝑰𝑪𝑰𝑻 𝑭𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 As I look back, the coursework this past year has been a real anchor and solid foundation during my field visits and has given me a real opportunity to contribute to an organization working in my hometown. This summer, for my fieldwork, I traveled to three districts of Kashmir and observed and contributed to the educational interventions led by the ELICIT Foundation. Their Teach to ELICIT Program works on improving academic outcomes and building well-being for host schools, students, and teachers in Kashmir. During my internship, I had the opportunity to use my pedagogical, technical, and analytical skills in teaching to share my observations and feedback with the program fellows. However, I soon realized that my observations were sometimes laden with a critical view and assumptions about the teaching context. I adjusted my approach by becoming more curious about the teaching context and the fellows' perspectives. I began asking questions before offering suggestions. This simple change significantly improved the feedback process. It helped me understand the fellows' perspectives and needs better, and be curious to find ways to help. I was happily surprised to discover that when I approached the context from a curious distance, I began to develop better situational awareness and insight into the teaching context. This experience has underscored the importance of approaching feedback and mentorship with empathy and an open mind. It has also taught me the importance of approaching a context from a curious distance, with care and conscious effort. As an MA Education graduate, I am committed to continuously learning and refining my skills to support and empower the educators I work with. The lessons I've learned while interning with the ELICIT Foundation will undoubtedly inform my future endeavors in the education field. - Sairah S. Excited to announce the publication of our latest report on #democratising #EducationData- Towards Enhancing Data Utility and Accessibility For Schools. In this research study we map out data submitted by schools to government mandated databases such as the #UDISE #NPSSE #NAS, towards identifying pathways that enables the usage of such data to serve students, shaping better schooling outcomes, moving away from data as a means of oversight and punishment and towards data as a tool for empowerment. The full report is available here: https://lnkd.in/gAhqrm8c Immense gratitude to Aapti Institute and Mozilla for research funding support and the excellent working group that you pieced together. Authored by Anagha Sasidharan Manasvini Ranganathan and Nivedita Krishna with research support from Riddhi Lakhiani and Rudvik Gullepalli. Designed by Sudeshna Bose. #ReachingOutwithFM Classrooms in South Kashmir reveal the deep impacts of violence on children: defiance, disengagement, vandalism, lack of focus, and growing despair are common signs. Through ELICIT Foundation, we work to address challenges and opportunities by designing education in response to the impacts of violent conflict, psycho-social and academic systems, in spaces enduring territorial/cultural/political disputes. Extending our support, through their initiatives, which resonate deeply with our mission, and their efforts to cultivate resilience and well-being in communities like those we serve in Jammu and Kashmir. Together, we strive to cultivate a shared vision of fostering empathy, accountability, and a growth mindset, essential elements in building a brighter future for all. #ForbesMarshall #TeachToElicit #BeyondBusiness #EnergisingCommunities

  • Yes, conflict is rampant. Yes, the trauma it causes is real.  Yes, children suffer.  But it's not enough to just agree.  It needs the small step that you can take.  If you can't go, send.  If you can't be, help be.  Promise just Rs. 2000 per month to the wellbeing in schools for children.
