The trip down {and beyond} the memory lane ... Towards the later part of November, I had the opportunity to visit XLRI after more than a year. I was there to take guest lectures for the 1st year BM and LSCM batch, for the course titled ‘Business and Sustainability’. The previous two years, I had taken a session for the 2nd year students for an elective under the Strategy domain. Standing in front of a room full of bright and curious students, it was both humbling and fulfilling to share my experiences and insights learned over the previous 6+ years at Envint. To the amazing batch: Thank you for your thought-provoking questions and for engaging so enthusiastically. Nothing could be more fun (and challenging!) on this side of the classroom, than the barrage of Qs being thrown your way. I especially enjoyed the interactions on the perceived conflict between ESG and ROI, and why should businesses integrate sustainability. This was also the weekend when the Ensemble Valhalla (Annual Cult Fest) was being launched and the campus was lit up, bracing for the next couple of action filled days. A big heartfelt thanks to Prof. Kalyan Bhaskar and XLRI Jamshedpur for inviting me and making this entire experience so memorable. As luck would have it, got a chance to attend the 32nd JRD Tata oration on business ethics, eloquently delivered this year by Harish Bhat of the Tata Group. He spoke on ‘doing the right thing’ intertwined with instances from Ratan Tata’s life and the decisions he made. Also happened to be seated right next to Dr. Poornima Dore. In the catch up meeting after ages, got to know about her multiple talents, versatile journey and her current work on #impact. And to top it all, I had the privilege of meeting some of my teachers. Seeing them after almost 2 decades was quite incredible.
