As a great example of participation, Bruxelles Mobilité - Brussel Mobiliteit has recently presented 26 greening projects aimed at demineralizing Brussels. What makes these projects unique is that they were all proposed by the citizens of Brussels themselves, selected from a pool of 400 submissions. This co-creative effort promises a greener future for the Belgian capital. It was the pleasure of Sweco's experts to have assisted Bruxelles Mobilité – Brussel Mobiliteit in assessing the feasibility of the submissions. We look forward to support the realization of these projects. 🌱🌳🌿 With streets and squares accounting for 40% of Brussels' public space, there are abundant opportunities to enhance the climate resilience of the city. The selection of these 26 projects represents a demineralization area of 4000 m², set to be implemented in the second half of 2024. 🏙️🌍 Bruxelles plante - Brussel plant is a remarkable example of citizen participation within the broader framework of demineralizing Brussels. Sweco is actively supporting Brussels in developing a comprehensive greening strategy, a multi-year plan, as well as an ecological management plan. Additionally, we are involved in the design of both larger and smaller demineralization projects that focus on ecology, integrated water management, soil research, and landscape design. 🌿💧🌎 Stay tuned for updates on this exciting prospect for a sustainable and greener future of Brussels. Meanwhile, find the 26 selected citizens' projects on the website of Bruxelles Mobilité - Brussel Mobiel. #BeSweco #cocreation #citizenparticipation #climateresilience #sustainablecities https://lnkd.in/eF55eiW3
