Last week, attended and participated in a panel on "Backing the Next Big Thing", as a part of Pre-seed summit organized by Eximius Ventures. A big thank you to WeWork India, Arvind Radhakrishnan, CFA and team, Pearl Agarwal and team, the co-panelists Vaas Bhaskar, Kitty Agarwal, Ishaan Khosla and all attendees for such an insightful and engaging evening in Gurgaon. Takeaway for founders from the event include: 💡 Its okay to fail, fail fast and learn faster. 💡 Every startup that eventually became an unicorn powered through a phase of lows; importantly they didn't start off wanting to be billion dollar startup but focused on solving real pain points in the most effective way for the right set of customers and rest is history. 💡 Pick the right investors from pre seed to later stages who understand the specific space that you are building in and are keen to help you navigate this journey. Doing homework here could help. 💡 To raise early stage capital, customer obsession is key, building core team with complementary capabilities is a game changer, and nuanced industry understanding and clarity around it is tablestakes. All these factors help investors build conviction. 💡 It takes a village to help build a venture backed startup, seek out and ask, you will be surprised what comes back to you.
