President of our Biologicals Division, Srinivasakumar Karavadi and Head of R&D, Dr. Prashant recently participated in the ABIM - Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting in Basel, Switzerland. Pesticide use remains a global challenge, with over 4.2 million tonnes applied annually, of which 35% are classified as Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs). These pose significant health risks, leading to over 385 million cases of pesticide poisoning each year, and are contributing to severe environmental damage, including a 75% decline in insect populations and widespread water contamination. Farmers are now actively seeking sustainable options and biocontrols have emerged as a reliable alternative to chemical pesticides with a market size of 7.9 Bn USD growing at a CAGR of >15%. At ABIM, our team, along with 1800 delegates from 58 countries focused on building strategic partnerships to accelerate the development, testing, and scaling of novel biocontrol solutions - globally. By harnessing global collaboration, we aim to make biocontrol solutions more accessible, particularly for the 75% of smallholder farmers in developing countries, empowering them with safer, nature positive methods to increase productivity and resilience in the face of climate change.
