For years, we've heard that green hydrogen will become cheaper than fossil fuels, but how close are we, really? 📌 By 2030: Green H₂: $1.7–$2.4/kg Grey H₂: $1.8–$2.7/kg At best, green hydrogen matches fossil-based hydrogen—but at worst, it remains pricier. 📌 By 2050: Green H₂: $0.6–$1.2/kg Grey H₂: $1.9–$2.9/kg Yes, prices are projected to drop significantly, but achieving this requires massive investments in infrastructure and technology. The big question: Will the industry move fast enough to make it a reality? What’s your take? Can hydrogen scale up in time?

Here’s a staggering fact: The average Indian consumes just 1,255 kWh of electricity annually—that’s one-third of the global average and barely a tenth of what an average American uses. But this isn’t just a statistic; it’s a story of untapped potential. At Gruhas, we’ve been grappling with big questions: How do we decarbonize while ensuring equitable economic growth? How can India’s startups and industries lead this transition? This blog on decarbonization isn’t just about what needs to be done—it’s about how we get it done. The stakes are too high to wait, and the opportunities are too big to ignore. Read, reflect, and let us know your thoughts. Link: https://lnkd.in/gyRUB9vv Nikhil Kamath Abhijeet Pai

    Vice President at Gruhas

As 2024 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the journey we’ve been on at Gruhas this year—a year filled with milestones, meaningful conversations, and impactful decisions. It’s incredible to think about how much has been achieved, not just in terms of numbers but in the depth of the relationships we’ve built and the transformations we’ve been fortunate to witness. This year, we made 15 investments, supporting 11 exciting new ventures while reaffirming our commitment to growth with 4 follow-ons. But these numbers are just the surface of a deeper story—a story of innovation, resilience, and a shared vision. Behind these statistics are the incredible founders who inspire us daily with their grit, vision, and determination to solve real problems. As we prepare to step into 2025, the horizon feels wide open with possibility. At Gruhas, we remain committed to backing people and ideas that have the potential to create real, lasting impact and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us next. Nikhil Kamath Abhijeet Pai

India's battery energy storage market is set to boom, with storage capacity expected to reach 27 GW by 2030. The cost of lithium-ion battery packs has touched a historic low of $115/kWh. Affordable storage systems will unlock larger opportunities in India's renewable energy potential. Abhijeet Pai l Nikhil Kamath

The largest bet this year for me has been that all vehicles will be electric someday; we have invested in everything from scooters to busses to trucks to maybe air taxis next... Some interesting learnings along the way are that pollution and not climate problems could expedite the transition. Plus, the drop in the cost per km of commute will, we hope, make good for the initial arbitrage in capex. And yes, energy at source has to transition to green. Thoughts? Research: FinFloww | Gruhas

Imagine controlling devices with just your thoughts—no screens, no buttons, just pure brainpower. Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) are turning this science fiction into reality, and India is quietly making waves in this transformative tech. With a 54% increase in BCI-related research over the last three years and over 20 universities actively working on BCI projects, India’s academic and tech communities are exploring groundbreaking applications. From prosthetics controlled by brain signals to enhancing learning in schools through cognitive monitoring systems expected to improve retention rates by 35%, the potential is immense. Globally, BCIs are breaking barriers beyond healthcare. Think mind-controlled gaming, projected to see a user base of over 10 million by 2030, or neuro-marketing, where companies have reported a 20% boost in campaign effectiveness using brainwave analysis. As neuroscience advances, BCIs are unlocking seamless communication between humans and machines, transforming the way we connect with and control our environment. The future of communication might just be... telepathic. #NeuroTech #BCIIndia #BCIFuture #BrainPower Nikhil Kamath l Abhijeet Pai
