About us

Who We Are Hemp Fabric Lab (HFL) is a one-stop shop for designers and creators to get their fix of sustainable fabrics with hemp as a core material. The idea for HFL came about because we saw a growing need for eco-friendly fabrics and lack of easy accessibility to them. Seeing that we were already working with one of nature’s best offering- Hemp, we decided that more people should get to experience it too. In the process, we also realised how cumbersome fabric shopping can be. So we focused on the two problems that designers face the most: minimum order quantities (MOQs) and availability of natural fabrics. At HFL we don’t like to discuss quantities, rather our focus is on slow fashion and encouraging designers to create using fabrics that don’t harm the environment. Our Story The idea for HFL was formulated at Bombay Hemp Company (BOHECO)- India’s premier industrial and medicinal cannabis company with a desire to promote hemp textiles because of its numerous benefits to the environment and its incredible properties. BOHECO is an agro-based enterprise re-imagining the future of Indian agriculture and sustainable living with hemp as its lens. The goal is to educate and advocate for industrial hemp, promote its benefits to society and assist local farmers in cultivating the crop by providing the best seeds and practices in cultivation techniques for poverty alleviation and rural development. BOHECO’s grand vision and goal is to lay the foundation for a successful national eco-system which harnesses the greatest industrial & medicinal value out of hemp. Our Vision Our vision is to be the frontrunners in the Indian hemp textile industry and a name to reckon with when people think of hemp fabric. Our Mission Being a product of BOHECO, Hemp Fabric Lab’s core mission is to educate and encourage brands, designers and consumers to adopt hemp and banish any myths surrounding it.

We stand on the brink of the future, one shaped profoundly by Mr. Ratan Tata To call him a visionary barely scratches the surface of his impact. Without his pioneering spirit, the Indian Cannabis Industry as we know it today simply would not exist. When we first ventured into the unknown as frightened young entrepreneurs, Mr. Tata equipped us with more than just capital, as our very FIRST Investor — he equipped us with courage. He said, “The first ones out the door are the first ones to get shot at, so you better have a damn strong kevlar armour on.” It was only years later we realised how this has etched into the ethos of our entire team. With Bombay Hemp Company Private Limited as his instrument, he ignited an entire industry. He not only funded us but also forged crucial pathways — from providing for our seed cultivation initiatives to launching India’s first modern clinical trials with Medicinal Cannabis at Tata Memorial Centre. Today, with heavy hearts and teary eyes, we pledge to honor his legacy. The vision Mr. Tata bestowed upon us isn’t just remembered; it’s lived — every day at BOHECO. As we navigate forward, we do so with the determination to uphold his trust and we celebrate him by being BOHECO. Creating a Better Change

Sustainability You Can Feel: Hemp’s Role in Revolutionizing Textiles At Hemp Fabric Lab we’ve always believed that sustainability isn’t just a trend - it’s a necessity. As we stand on the cusp of a textile revolution, hemp is no longer the future - it’s the present The fashion and textile industries are facing growing scrutiny for their environmental impact, and rightfully so. As Business Head at Hemp Fabric Lab, I see firsthand how adopting hemp can address these challenges head-on. Why Hemp? 🌍 Unlike other fabrics, hemp is a regenerative crop. It enriches the soil it grows in, requires significantly less water than cotton, and absorbs more CO2 than most plants. It’s a game-changer for businesses looking to move beyond greenwashing and make genuine, sustainable choices. But sustainability doesn’t mean compromising on quality or versatility. Hemp fabrics are: Durable & Long-Lasting: Our textiles can be used in everything from fashion to home decor, offering timeless elegance that stands up to wear and tear. Naturally Antimicrobial: Perfect for reducing the need for chemical treatments in production. Breathable & Comfortable: With a feel that only gets softer over time, hemp is as luxurious as it is responsible. The Future of Fashion & Textiles As brands and designers, we need to start rethinking our supply chains and materials. Hemp offers an opportunity not just for sustainable innovation but also for creating long-lasting, high-quality products that align with the principles of circular fashion. At Hemp Fabric Lab, we’re working with visionary partners who understand that fabric choices today will determine the future of our planet. Are you ready to join us in making sustainability something you can truly feel? Let’s build a future that’s as responsible as it is innovative. 🌿 #Hemp #SustainabilityYouCanFeel #HempRevolution #TextileInnovation #SustainableTextiles #CircularFashion
