About us
With over 500 members and growing eachday, the Indo Australia Chamber now represents almost the entire range of Indo-Australian business community. These 500 members include, leading Australian and Indian companies doing business across and between the two countries. The Chamber now has direct presence in Southern India ( Bangalore ) and Western India ( Mumbai-Pune ). They also represent a broad spectrum of business activities – IT, ITeS, automotive, building and construction, food processing, agri-business, mining and energy, textiles, banking and financial services, healthcare, logistics, migration, tourism and entertainment. The fact is that the Indo-Australian business is expanding to newer and newer areas. New ideas, new products and new technologies have been at the heart of this new awakening. The Chamber maintains a close working relationship with Governments, Diplomatic Missions in India and Australia. It is an exciting time to be a part of the Indo-Australia economic strategic initiatives that intend to transform the economic partnership between the two countries. As part of their strategic initiatives, the Chamber has launched the Western India Chapter in Mumbai earlier this year on 24th May 2019 and launched our Bengaluru Chapter recently on 23rd September 2019. We also have plans to have Chapters in New Delhi and Kolkata by March 2020. We have recently launched our brand new website www.indoaustchamber.com which you will find more informative and interactive and we welcome your suggestions and feedback on the new website.

The Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce #AustCham India in collaboration with the Australian Consulate-General in Chennai and supported by Austrade, hosted a memorable evening to celebrate the Southern India Chapter Members Meet on Tuesday, 26th November 2024, in Chennai. This event also served as a heartfelt farewell to the Chamber’s CEO, Ms. Petula Thomas, who transformed the Chamber since she took over in 2019. The evening commenced with welcoming remarks from Mr. Suresh Raman, IACC Southern India Chapter Chairperson, Vice President, and Regional Head at TCS. The keynote address was delivered by Ms. Silai Zaki the Australian Consul-General in Chennai, who praised Ms.Thomas for her exceptional leadership, passion and commitment. Ms. Zaki also took the opportunity to read a congratulatory letter from the Australian High Commissioner recognising Ms. Thomas’s clarity of vision, leadership and exemplary performance that has given IACC a new purpose. The event also featured tributes to Ms. Thomas from Mr. Jonah Stephen, IACC Director, who spoke on behalf of the Board and Council, farewell congratulatory messages from key stakeholders in India and Australia. In her farewell speech, Ms. Thomas thanked the Chamber’s leadership and Secretariat team, members and partners for their collaboration, friendship and trust, highlighting key successes of the Chamber and the immense satisfaction of seeing the collective hard work of these last 6 years, transform the Chamber and position it for success for years to come. As a vibrant national chamber, it is now befitting of a 35-year old bilateral organisation started on the vision of two former Prime Ministers. A special thank you to Mr. Daniel, IACC Representative Council member for his support in hosting the event at the Madras Club and delivering the vote of thanks.
