IAS officer Nishant Kumar, District Collector of Parvathipuram Manyam, launched ‘My School, My Pride’ to transform government schools into centres of excellence. The district, established in 2022, faced low literacy rates, high dropout levels, and social challenges like child marriages. The initiative aimed to boost academic performance, build student confidence, and encourage ambitious career aspirations.  A key feature was the adoption of 182 government schools by senior officials, including the District Collector, who provided mentorship and monitored progress. The program implemented strategies such as encouragement classes, targeted subject improvement, interactive learning, daily online tests for 10th graders, dropout re-enrollment efforts, and parental engagement. Special initiatives promoted gender equality and higher education for girls.  The impact was significant—first-division results in the SSC exams improved from 84% in 2023 (7,865 students) to 89% in 2024 (8,955 students). Success stories like those of Patarapalli Sekhar, Vangapandu Naveen, and Rupanthi Ragamathi highlighted the program’s role in reshaping students' futures.  Beyond academics, the initiative fostered holistic development through career guidance, leadership mentoring, and extracurricular activities. Nishant Kumar emphasised that the goal was to inspire students and make learning an empowering experience.  With its structured approach and direct engagement, ‘My School, My Pride’ serves as a model for educational reforms in rural India. The administration plans to expand its scope, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, receives quality education and opportunities for a brighter future.
