On 5th December 2024, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) participated in a panel discussion on "Global Standards and Their Impact" at the International Sourcing Exposition for Elevators and Escalators (ISEE) in Mumbai, India. The discussion highlighted the critical role of the Indian Standards series IS 17900 on "Lifts", which provides comprehensive guidelines for the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of lifts to ensure safety and reliability. The event witnessed participation from thousands of stakeholders, including state electrical inspectorates, real estate developers, domestic and global industry leaders, and user groups, reflecting a diverse and engaged audience. Adding to the momentum, the National Standardization Quiz Competition (ISEE Quiz)—supported by BIS—focused on enhancing awareness of Indian standards for lifts and escalators. This initiative aimed to promote greater compliance with safety measures and protocols, ultimately preventing accidents and ensuring quality service across the industry. As India continues to emerge as a key player in the global vertical transportation market, the emphasis on Indian standards during ISEE 2024 reinforced the country's commitment to safety, quality, and global standardization. The panel discussion and quiz competition amplified awareness, drawing significant attention from domestic and international stakeholders alike. #GovernmentofIndia #Standardization #SafetyFirst #BIS #ISEE2024 #LiftsAndEscalators #GlobalStandards
