🏆 We are excited to announce that KaleidEO has won the 'Earth Observation and Geospatial Excellence’ award' at the ISpA Space Industry Awards 2024. Prateep Basu, accepted this award on behalf of the team, from Shri Dr Jitendra Singh, Hon'ble Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space. This award reflects our KaleidEO team’s hard work and vision to make Earth observation accessible across the EO value chain. In the last two years, we became the: 🔹First private company from India to test edge computing in space in 2023. 🔹First private player from India to do successful aerial testing a high resolution, multispectral, optical payload with the largest swath, offering from India, at 65 km for the resolution on offer. Last week, I had the pleasure of representing SatSure and KaleidEO at 3 events across Bengaluru, Mumbai and Trivandrum. Prateep, please don't ask me to travel again this year :) Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Committee on Space The inaugural meeting of this committee was chaired by industry veteran Apparao sir who founded Centum Electronics Ltd. along with D Radhakrishnan, CMD NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) and my friend Rohan. The meeting brought out interesting insights that set the tone for India's evolving space sector. Deloitte Entrepreneurship Summit The summit brought together fellow entrepreneurs and investors, I revisited the journey of building KaleidEO and how it matters for scaling SatSure's operations, specifically using high resolution and moving boldly towards a full-stack EO company. As expected, growth-stage investors were more focused on realized revenue and a strong pipeline of SatSure, not any inspiring stories. On a lighter note, Prateep joked, "If you need money for your sensors, go and pitch to the investors! 😝" Special shoutout to Surbhi, Chirag and Vikash for organizing the event and including six spacetech companies out of a total of 28 participants. #EntrepreneurSummit2024 Huddle 2024 The energy at Kerala's startup ecosystem event by Kerala Startup Mission, particularly the focus on spacetech and the support from SpacePark Kerala, was impressive. My panel moderated by energetic Arun along with Lloyd, Keyur and Prof. Satya discussed "The Indian Space Ecosystem & The Emergence of Private Space Companies" and reaffirmed one thing: there’s a lot of potential, but execution is the name of the game. Across all three events, the message was loud and clear: spacetech must focus on delivering real-world value to end-users. It's this demand from non-space industries that will drive growth upstream, validating SatSure's and KaleidEO's approach to vertical integration. And the recent announcement of EO-PPP by IN-SPACe is an exciting step by the government towards this. It’s always energizing to connect with people who are passionate about shaping the future of space. What a week at Perth! My first time down under and I am overwhelmed with the engagement and warmth that we received here. It was a blast to start the week at Optus stadium, watching the 3rd day of the Border-Gavaskar test match (Kohli's unbeaten 100)! With the same momentum, we had a great week of interaction across the APAC and Australian space eco-system. Some key takeaways for me: 1) Australian ingenuity to leverage the very best of its entire robotics, mining and natural resources ecosystem-collaborating for the next moon mission. I could probably write a whole post after a wonderful day tour at the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct. My takeway: keep the focus irrespective of where we are and where others may be heading to - our priorities are unique! I will be watching this very closely over the next few years! 2) At the beautiful Crown venue, Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference and Exhibition was off to a great start. We had a nice India-Bharat section showcasing the ecosystem and very well planned by SIA-India led by Dr Subba Rao Pavuluri, Anil Prakash and Rajeev Gambhir. Great planning! 3) We got to discuss multiple topics of mutual interest with Shri Amarjeet Singh Takhi, Consul General to WA from India. 4) Thanks to Jason Bender for spending some time with me over dinner and catching up on perspectives about the entire space scene here. Joined by Geraldine Baca, Damodaran Raman and Nakulan Narayanan, it was a great evening! Sireesh you are a great conversation at all the events, although we rarely talk inside India! 5) Finally, thanks to the amazing team at Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Nashid Chowdhury, Vimala Srinivasan for facilitating and supporting this amazing event for us! We look forward to some successful outcomes of the visit soon. The Koalas at event was unexpected and made it so much fun! Special thanks to Ram Kuppusamy for hosting the entire India delegation on the sidelines! You got our attention, is the least I can say.
