LLF bags the prestigious Nexus of Good Award We are thrilled to announce that our initiative, "Inclusion of Children’s Home Languages to Improve Foundational Learning Outcomes for Tribal Children in Chhattisgarh," has been honoured with the prestigious 3rd Nexus of Good Annual Award in the Education Category. At Language and Learning Foundation (LLF), we believe in the significant power of education rooted in children’s own languages and cultures. Through our Multilingual Education (MLE) program, we are working towards a strong foundational literacy and numeracy for children in the tribal regions of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Rajasthan by integrating their home languages into teaching and learning. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) and National Curriculum Framework (NCF), LLF’s MLE program offers a pathway for meaningful change in education across diverse contexts. Our award-winning MLE Bastar Project builds a sustainable multilingual education framework through capacity building, curriculum development, and community engagement. It has trained State Resource Groups (SRGs), District Resource Groups (DRGs), teachers, and Cluster Academic Coordinators (CACs) for effective implementation, developed contextually relevant teaching-learning materials, and fostered local support through 900 storytelling sessions and 25 Shala Sangrahalayas (museums). Spanning 1,524 schools across Bastar, the project has impacted 38,874 students, 1,894 teachers, and 320 officials. Monitoring and midline data (Sept 2024) show notable gains since baseline (Dec 2022): literacy (31%), numeracy (25%), word reading (27%), listening comprehension (23%), and writing (18%), underscoring the project's effectiveness in improving student outcomes. Based on the success of our MLE efforts in Chhattisgarh, we have started working in Jharkhand, integrating five regional languages—Khadiya, Kudukh, Ho, Mundari, and Santhali—into teaching practices. This initiative benefits 25,000 children across 1,000 schools in seven districts, promoting inclusive and culturally responsive education. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nexus of Good for this incredible honour and to every teacher, partner, and community member who has been part of this journey. We also take this great opportunity to thank our Bastar and Sukma MLE teams of the Multilingual Education Program, Chhattisgarh for their incredible commitment and contribution into making the project successful and bringing this laurel.
