In the context of Jammu and Kashmir, recent events during the parliamentary election showed a significant presence of lotus flags, signalling the visibility of the ruling party. However, the election results revealed that this was largely superficial. Regrettably, successive central governments have missed the mark in understanding the region. They may believe they have grasped the dynamics of Jammu and Kashmir, but the deeper understanding of the people's sentiments, particularly in the Kashmir Valley, remains elusive. The thought process and the emotions of the people in the Jammu region might have  somewhat been gauged by the Central Government’s. The central Government’s approach towards the Kashmir region has consistently strayed from the ground realities. This is due to the perceived understanding of the region and its people. With the upcoming elections, the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is confident of securing a majority in the State. However, the National Conference and the Congress Party could be the dark horses, posing a significant challenge.
