🌍 Reflections from India Energy Week 2025 🌍 It was a privilege to be part of the Leadership Panel on “CCUS – Fast-tracking the Commercial Carbon Management Technologies Ecosystem” at India Energy Week 2025. I had the opportunity to engage in deep and insightful discussions with global leaders and policymakers, including Tarun Kapoor, Advisor to the Prime Minister of India, and many other key stakeholders. These interactions reinforced the global momentum towards CCUS and industrial decarbonization, and the importance of policy support, investment frameworks, and international collaboration. Key Takeaways from Our Discussion: ✅ Scaling CCUS in India: While India has made strides in hydrogen, renewables, and industrial decarbonization, CCUS adoption needs large-scale infrastructure, financing mechanisms, and clear monetization pathways. ✅ New Era Cleantech’s Role: We are pioneering India’s first Integrated Gasification Plant with Carbon Capture & Utilization, positioning it as a ‘Blue Refinery’—a large-scale, industrial-ready solution backed by environmental approvals and government recognition. ✅ Addressing Cost & Viability ( New Era's experience): • Scale – Commercial Level: Large-scale deployment is key to reducing costs and making CCUS commercially viable. • Multi-Product Approach: Our gasification facility integrates methanol, hydrogen, ethanol, Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and ammonia production, ensuring carbon isn’t just captured—it’s monetized. • Technology Optimization: By leveraging capex- and opex-efficient solutions, including carbon utilization technologies, we improve process efficiency and reduce costs by up to 60%. • Innovation & Integration: Combining coal gasification with CCUS and green hydrogen advancements creates a scalable, efficient, and economically viable solution. • Ecosystem & Incentives: Government-backed offtake security, CCUS-linked industrial hubs, and clear carbon trading mechanisms are critical for accelerating adoption. ✅ Call to Action for Stakeholders: • Government: Fast-track incentives for CCUS-linked industrial hubs and create an ecosystem with offtake security for products from domestic coal gasification. • Industry: Co-locate CCUS facilities to reduce infrastructure costs and drive economies of scale. • Investors: CCUS is transitioning from a cost-heavy burden to a commercially attractive model, with aligned technology, policy, and financing.
