Fostering Entrepreneurship in Micro and Small Enterprises through PMMY! #Unlockingpotential In the Maligoan village in Thaumal Rampur Block, Kalahandi District, Odisha, there is restricted availability to essential digital services (printing and photocopying). Nakula Naik, interested in pursuing a livelihood opportunity, trained in digital entrepreneurship offered by NGO Gram Vikas. With the support of the Mudra-loan from Canara Bank @9.65% Interest, Nakula was able to set up a Lok Seva Kendra (digital service center) powering a photocopier, laptop, printer and camera. Strengthening the Millet Ecosystem: Highlights from the 2nd Millet Mentor Partners’ Meet On November 29th, the Millet Mentor Program, jointly anchored by SELCO Foundation and WASSANIndia, convened an inspiring gathering of diverse stakeholders committed to enhancing ecosystem support for decentralized millet enterprises. The Millet Mentor initiative aims to foster partnerships across the millet value chain, mapping expertise and mentorship to establish networks, resource centers, and locally accessible knowledge. These efforts are designed to empower farmers, rural enterprises, social organizations, and other stakeholders involved in millet production, processing, marketing, and consumption. Key Highlights from the Meet: Panel Discussion – Phase 1: Reflections on achievements and identified gaps, led by the Millet Mentor team: Ms. Rucha Limaye and Mr. Nagesh Rao (SELCO Foundation), and Ms. Sai Nikam (WASSAN), moderated by Ms. Huda Jaffar. Panel Discussion – Strategic Directions: Insights from practitioners on improving program design, with contributions from Ms. Bibi Jaan (Devdhanya FPO), Dr. Regi (Sittlingi FPO), Mr. Laxmi Narayan Reddy, and Ms. Sambit Prajnya (CYSD Odisha), facilitated by Mr. Ravindra (WASSAN). Breakout Sessions: Collaborative discussions among partners to identify challenges, propose solutions, and define their roles in addressing key themes such as millet production, business development, post-harvest processing, market linkages, and knowledge hubs. The meeting concluded with a unified call for collaborative action to ensure sustainable livelihoods and a healthier future through the promotion of millets. Championing inclusive development through 15th Finance Commission! #Unlockingpotential Suresh, a college student from Thalamari village in Karnataka, was interested to set up his own digital service center. Driven by ambition and a desire to achieve financial independence, Suresh embarked on this entrepreneurial journey. Suresh has a locomotor disability. His family members engage in manual labor which made him seek out opportunities to create a primary source of income. Championing inclusive development through 15th Finance Commission! #Unlockingpotential We look at Gowramma, a resident of Devsuguru, Karnataka, who found a unique opportunity to diversify and add to her household income through Agarbatti (incense stick) making. Her husband runs a complementary coconut selling business near a local temple. Gowramma was not able to previously engage in any income-generating activities due to her disability. Through the Gram Panchayat mobilization drive facilitated by SELCO Foundation in Raichur, she was able to learn about the Agarbatti business and invest in a Agarbatti making machine with 15th FC funds subsidizing the capital cost leading to: • Increase in monthly household income by 50% • Improved business via employment of 2-3 workers • Increased confidence leading to establishing own brand of scented agarbattis Access climate smart technologies on Solutions Portal: https://lnkd.in/g-aPgSY9 And stay tuned for more schemes and case studies of #Unlockingpotential!
