Vidya Devi used to sell small household items by the roadside, struggling to support her family. Through Smile Foundation's Entrepreneurship Development Program, she gained entrepreneurial skills and guidance that helped her present her products more effectively. Today, Vidya’s income has grown, her confidence has soared, and she has started making better financial decisions, even saving for her future—something she once thought was out of reach. Through entrepreneurship development program for women, Smile Foundation takes various steps to support and uplift women in their entrepreneurial journeys, providing access to training, mentorship, and capacity-building programs that equip women with the skills and knowledge needed to start and manage successful businesses. Creating Safe Spaces for Children - Empowering Teachers for Mental Health-Responsive Education Recognizing that 1 in 5 children faces emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges, Smile Foundation aims to address the pressing need for mental health support in schools. Teachers play a pivotal role as first responders, providing awareness, intervention, and connections to professional help. The program's objectives include shifting teacher mindsets and equipping them with skills to support students' mental well-being. It involves a rapid assessment of existing awareness, three-hour experiential training for 50 teachers, pre-and post-assessments, and resource guides for ongoing support. Teachers are encouraged to integrate mental health into pedagogy, destigmatize the topic, and provide first aid or specialist referrals. Regular follow-up sessions every 3–6 months reinforce the training, ensuring long-term effectiveness. This initiative aims to improve learning outcomes, create supportive school environments, and reduce dropout rates, particularly among vulnerable students. Under the project Swabhiman of Honda India Foundation, Smile Foundation conducted, life skills sessions on self defense training in the villages of Greater Noida & Bhiwadi. These sessions empowered women and adolescent girls with self-defense techniques by expert trainers and group discussions on safety challenges. Awareness campaigns led by law enforcement provided insights on helpline services and personal safety strategies. Neelam, Smile Foundation's Community Mobilizer, Gets Recognized for Transforming Community Health Neelam, a Community Mobilizer with Smile Foundation, has made a meaningful impact in Mewat, Haryana, and Talwandi Bhagerian, Punjab, by promoting health and wellness in underserved communities. In Mewat, she faced reluctance from villagers to attend health sessions. Through patient home visits and heartfelt conversations, she gained their trust and encouraged over 300 women to participate in health camps. Local leaders publicly acknowledged her efforts, commending her dedication to the community. In Talwandi Bhagerian, Neelam worked closely with local health workers to conduct awareness drives and screenings. Her efforts inspired many women, some for the first time, to seek medical support.
