Does a longer read range for a tolling antenna always lead to better performance for your toll system? While having an appropriate read range is important, a longer read range doesn't always mean better performance, especially for toll systems! It's tempting to prioritize greater read range, but in tolling applications, accuracy and reliability are key. A longer read range can lead to more interference, unintended reads, and transaction errors. It all depends on the application and what the roadside system is trying to accomplish. The best tolling antennas strike a balance between offering the right read zone for consistent reads while minimizing detection errors such as unintended reads / false positives. It’s about controlling the read zone and optimizing performance for the specific needs of the tolling environment, not just going for the longest range.
