A Sofa’s Journey: Where Memories Live & Sustainability Breathes It began in a small workshop, where underprivileged women—armed with skill, resilience, and hope—breathed life into recycled wood and fabric. Each stitch, each nail wasn’t just part of a sofa—it was part of a bigger story. A story of second chances—for materials, for people, for the planet. It found its first home in a sunlit apartment, where a young couple sat cross-legged on the floor, surrounded by moving boxes and dreams. This wasn’t just a sofa; it was their first big purchase, the heart of their new beginning. It cradled whispered late-night conversations, spontaneous dance parties, and quiet Sunday mornings with coffee and books. ☕💛 Life unfolded around it—celebrations, heartbreaks, growing pains. And when the fabric frayed and the cushions lost their bounce, they didn’t toss it away. Instead, they repaired it—because this sofa wasn’t disposable, it was family. Years later, as their son packed boxes for his own first home, they passed the sofa on—new fabric, the same soul. A gift filled with decades of love, laughter, and the kind of comfort that only time can create.🎁 Because sustainability isn’t just about cutting carbon or recycling waste—it’s about holding onto what matters, nurturing products that live longer, love harder, and waste less. This sofa didn’t just avoid a landfill. It became a legacy. 💫🌱 💡 Sustainability & Memories—Built to Last for Generations. 💡 Join SuperHuman Race’s DoGood platform to live sustainably and make a difference! https://lnkd.in/g56-8mRT Gagandeep Bhullar Aalok A. Only 3% of global companies that commit to sustainability actually meet their targets. Why? Because sustainability reporting alone doesn’t drive change. What lies beyond reporting in corporate sustainability? At SuperHumanRace, we’re flipping the script—empowering businesses to act, measure, and scale impact in real-time. Curious to hear how we bring it all together? Tune into a fast, free-wheeling conversation between our founder Gagandeep Bhullar and Jan Schiele on the latest episode of The Digital Good Podcast by Lucid. : https://lnkd.in/gfWn6E7c (Follow Lucid. on https://lnkd.in/gav3T7va) Special shoutout to the clients who were mentioned in the Podcast. Economic Future at Risk: The Cost of Climate Inaction According to the Asia-Pacific Climate Report 2024 by the Asian Development Bank, climate change under a high-end emissions scenario could result in a 16.9% total #GDP loss across the #Asia and #Pacific region by 2070 and #India stands out as one of the hardest-hit countries, with a projected 25.7% GDP loss. What does a 25.7% GDP loss mean for India? This impact is not just a statistic, but an economic devastation- massive job losses, disruption of industries, spiraling inflation, and the collapse of vital infrastructure. Over the last few years, Asia has frequently faced extreme weather events - from #cyclones and #heavyrainfall to #flashfloods and #landslides. As climate change accelerates, these events are expected to intensify, with even more severe storms, floods, and landslides in the coming years. The clock is ticking, but here’s a key point - this projection is based on a high-end emissions scenario, meaning there is still significant scope to reduce the GDP loss by taking proactive steps. #Mitigation must be increased to limit long term losses, while #adaptation must be accelerated to address impacts that will not be avoided. The question is no longer if we can afford to act. The real question is: Can we afford not to? #ClimateChange #AsiaPacific #EconomicCollapse #NetZero

Urbanization & Climate Change: Are We Trapped in Our Own Heat Dome? With over half of the global population now living in urban areas, our rapidly growing cities face the harsh reality of the #UrbanHeatDome- a phenomenon where a densely built city traps and intensifies heat, creating a "dome" of warmer air over the area. Here's how it plays out: #ExpandingCities: Urban sprawl often replaces nature with roads, buildings, and heat-absorbing materials like concrete and asphalt. This change raises local temperatures while increasing emissions from construction. #RisingTemperatures: Dense infrastructure and fewer green spaces turn cities into “heat islands,” causing them to be hotter than nearby areas. These heat-retaining materials release warmth slowly, leading to a cycle of elevated temperatures, even at night. #IncreasedEnergyDemand: Higher urban temperatures drive up energy needs, especially for air conditioning, increasing electricity use. This demand often relies on fossil fuels, creating a feedback loop where emissions cause further climate warming, which then raises temperatures. #ClimateDrivenExtremeWeather: More emissions accelerate climate change, resulting in frequent heatwaves, intense rainfall, and flooding. This stresses city infrastructure and public health, making urban areas vulnerable to the effects of the emissions they help generate. This cycle of urbanization driving higher emissions, intensifying climate change, and creating urban heat domes traps us in a feedback loop that threatens our health, safety, and the planet’s future. But what’s the Solution? Urbanization doesn’t have to come at the cost of our climate. Cities worldwide are proving it’s possible to design with nature, not against it. Solutions like green infrastructure, energy-efficient building standards, green roofs, reflective pavements, shaded walkways, and urban forests have been shown to drastically lower temperatures while enriching city life. With intentional design, cities can mitigate heat domes, reduce their carbon footprint, and become more resilient against climate change. What do you think – how can we make urbanization work with, not against, our climate goals? Let us know in the comments below. #SustainableCities #Urbanization #ClimateChange #SuperHumanRace

“The Future of Life on Earth: All Eyes on COP16” Today, as world leaders gather in Cali- one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet- the theme of COP16 Colombia, #PeacewithNature, isn’t just a slogan. It’s a bold, global mission aimed at redefining humanity's relationship with the natural world. For the first time since the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework #KMGBF was adopted, we are now at a critical juncture. The #COP16 is not just another gathering; it is a moment of reflection and accountability. But the stakes are high: -According to the 2024 Living Planet Index (LPI) report from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the global population of monitored wildlife has seen an alarming decline of 73% on average since 1970- up from a 69% decline reported in 2022. -NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration and International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) have confirmed the Fourth Global Coral Bleaching Event. Since the beginning of 2023, mass bleaching of coral reefs has been occurring in over 50 areas around the world due to prolonged stress on coral reefs from marine heatwaves, which are becoming more frequent and severe due to rising global temperatures. -The 2024 Forest Declaration Assessment states that in 2023, the world lost 6.37 million hectares of forest; this loss was 45 percent higher than the goal to eliminate deforestation by 2030. -The World Bank estimates that the collapse of certain ecosystem services, such as fisheries or native forests, could cost the world economy $2.7 trillion, annually by 2030, about 2.3% of global output. As we confront the urgency of our mission, it’s crucial to remember that this isn’t solely about conservation; it’s about safeguarding the ecosystems that support human life. The choices made in Cali will ripple across the globe, shaping the future of biodiversity and the quality of life for generations to come. The world is watching- will #COP16 deliver on the hope born out of #Kunming and #Montreal, or will we face disappointment once again? #sustainability #biodiversity #climateaction
