On this International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the depth of your pain. Today is a day to remind you that you are not alone. When someone dies by suicide, those left behind often feel blamed or see themselves as failures. As a partner, parent, sibling, or colleague, you might feel like you didn’t do enough to stop it, "Could I have done more? Why didn’t I see the signs?" or others might blame you, adding to the weight of your grief. But please, hear us when we say: It is not your fault. Suicide is multifaceted. There is no simple answer, no magic words, and it is never because of just one thing. Suicide itself is very misunderstood and stigmatized. Grief from suicide often comes with shame, anger, and confusion, but you are worthy of care, love, and kindness—especially from yourself. You don’t have to carry this burden alone. Reach out when you need support—whether it’s a friend, a therapist, or a community of others who understand the depth of your loss. If you have thoughts of suicide, feel free to connect with us and the resources below. This is a difficult day. You are seen. Thank you Sneha 🧡
Hello everyone, I recently participated in an enlightening session in collaboration with Naaz and the The Connect Hut , Unkahi Helpline, led by Sachin Chitambaran Sir. This initiative emphasizes the importance of mental health awareness, particularly within the LGBTQ community. One key takeaway was the understanding that suicide is not a sign of weakness; rather, it often stems from deep emotional pain. It's crucial to recognize that having suicidal thoughts is a symptom of this pain, and we need to focus on addressing the pain itself rather than just providing solutions. We discussed the importance of having a safety or well-being plan. This includes identifying three personal warning signs that indicate when we might be struggling. Additionally, we should think of three healthy coping mechanisms that help us calm down—these could be activities that bring us joy or relaxation, but they should not involve unhealthy habits like excessive social media use, sleep disruptions, or alcohol. Lastly, it’s vital to identify three trusted individuals we can reach out to for support. Building a network of trust is essential in navigating through tough times. Let’s continue to foster open conversations about mental health and support one another. Thank you.
