Vishali Kola: A Journey of Strength and Advocacy for Child Safety 💪 Vishali Kola’s inspiring journey is a testament to resilience and the power of transformation. Having faced years of physical abuse in her youth, she defied the odds to start Tejobarath, an NGO dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse and promoting child safety. From her early life in Srikalahasti, where she faced controlling and abusive family members, to overcoming societal restrictions after her marriage, Vishali turned her pain into purpose. Her NGO Tejobarath launched the Safe India, Happy India campaign, distributing 50,000 pamphlets to raise awareness in schools, and later introduced the Body Safety app to teach children about safe and unsafe touch. Tejobarath also collaborates with initiatives like Menstrupedia to provide menstrual hygiene education, distributing free sanitary napkins to over 6,000 women and girls in South India and Assam. Vishali’s entrepreneurial spirit also led her to become a fashion designer, working with kalamkari artisans, and growing her business while supporting women artisans from rural areas. Despite early struggles, including personal loss and depression, Vishali’s commitment to her child and her cause kept her focused on making a difference. Bangalore Turns a Drain into a Dream 🌿 From a stinking stormwater drain to a vibrant green corridor, Bangalore’s Koramangala Raj Canal (K100) is undergoing a stunning transformation inspired by Seoul’s Cheonggyecheon Stream project. The once-polluted 12 km stretch now features pathways for walking, cycling, and recreation amidst flowers, plants, and fresh air. 🌱🚶♂️🚴♀️ Health and Community Impact: 🌬️ Cleaner air: Improved vegetation reduces pollution. 🏃🏻♂️ Active lifestyles: Tracks encourage walking and cycling. 🧠 Mental well-being: Green spaces help reduce stress. 🩺 Fewer diseases: Better water management limits mosquito breeding. Residents are already enjoying the revamped space, but concerns remain about long-term maintenance and cleanliness. In Tamil Nadu, 45,000 women, led by Chandrasekar Kuppan from the Art of Living Foundation, are reviving rivers through the Naganadhi Rejuvenation Project. With support from the TN government’s MNREGA scheme, 20,000 women have built recharge wells and boulder checks, bringing water back to riverbeds and impacting local communities. Kuppan’s journey began as an electrician in 2005, inspired by an Art of Living course.
