AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper presents the PYROS I Code used in France to calculate the effects of a sodium pool fire on a vessel and his validation range. The results or the atmospheric behaviour of the aerosol are given. Predicting the consequences of large sodium fires in large cells from the results of small scaled experiments, claim attention on scale effects. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Flow pattern of a realistic sodium leak from the sodium piping equipped with jackets and thermal insulator was experimentally investigated. Then, based on this result, the fire mitigation system consisting of an inclined liner, a drain piping, and a smothering tank has been developed. The performance of the system was, in final, validated in the large-scale sodium leak and fire test in the SAPFIRE facility. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this work the results of experiments on alkali metals aerosols capture with the use of aerator and Ventura scrubber are presented. The polluted air was passed through water, foam-producer, in which various solid fractions were added. The effectiveness of aerosols capture with the use of aerator during not big outlays of air was 99.8%

AbstractAbstract
[en] The results of experimental studies and their comparison with calculations on localization of sodium burning and its drainage into pour off vessels are presented. The influence of declination angle of floor of premises on the amount of burning coolant after its spilling was studied. The conditions of heat-mass-exchange during flow of heated sodium in pour-off tube providing its 'non-freezing' are defined more precisely. The demands to construction elements of extinguishing system were formulated

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper presents how, starting from a knowledge of sodium ignition and burning, principles for extinction (smothering catch trays, leak recuperation systems, powders) can be developed. These techniques applied in Superphenix 1 and PEC reactors have been tested in the ESMERALDA experimental program which is a joint French/Italian project. (author)
