AbstractAbstract
[en] We study the Chiral Schwinger model shown to be unitary under certain conditions by Jackiw and Rajaraman. We show that, whenever the model is unitary, it is also equivalent to a manifestly gauge-invariant model containing a Dirac fermion and a decoupled Chiral fermion, considered in a specific gauge

AbstractAbstract
[en] The q-difference Painlevé II equation admits special solutions written in terms of determinants whose entries are the general solution of the q-Airy equation. An ultradiscrete limit of the special solutions is studied using the procedure of ultradiscretization with parity variables. Then we obtain new Airy-type solutions of the ultradiscrete Painlevé II equation with parity variables, and the solutions have a richer structure than the known solutions. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We discuss some issues in our previous works in quantum kinetic approach to chiral anomaly, chiral magnetic and vortical effects. The Wigner function for massless fermions in a constant background electromagnetic field is solved in a power expansion. Chiral magnetic and vortical effects emerge naturally. The conservation equations with anomaly are derived in details.

AbstractAbstract
[en] We show that when natural light is incident to a linear lossless polarizing element, the polarized intensity in transmission equals the polarized reflected intensity. The result appears to be quite general, and is not restricted to cases where the reflected and transmitted light are orthogonally polarized. We discuss some simple examples and give supporting experimental evidence, where the polarizing element is a structurally chiral film. Leading in to our main results we review, for undergraduates and teachers of polarization optics, the theory of Stokes parameters and the theory of propagation in structurally chiral media. Our main result will also be of interest to specialists.
