AbstractAbstract
[en] At present, the AGS slow extracted beam current is 1 μA. With the completion of the Booster in 1990 and the associated AGS modifications, the current will rise to 4--5 μA. With the subsequent addition of the Stretcher, which is under design, the current will rise to 8--10 μA and approximately 100% duty factor. We are now examining the possibility of a further enhancement to a current level of 40--50 μA CW

AbstractAbstract
[en] The Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) received protons directly from a Linac and heavy ions directly from a Tandem Van de Graaf before 1992. The newly constructed Booster has been brought on line to serve as an injector for the AGS. The operational status of the acceleration of proton and heavy ions through the Booster and the AGS is reviewed. Accelerator improvement programs to increase proton intensity for physics research and to prepare heavy ion beams for RHIC injection are discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new Main Control Room (MCR) has been built to control the accelerators of the AGS Complex. A new physical environment was produced to better control light, sound, temperature, and traffic. New control consoles were built around the work-stations that make up the distributed control system. Equipment placement within consoles and console placement within the room reflect attention to the ''human factors'' needs of the operator. 1 ref., 2 figs
