AbstractAbstract
[en] In a sample of diffractive events of high multiplicity a sharp five standard deviation signal is observed at M=2255 MeV/c2 in the K-pπ+ mass distribution and, although with less statistical strength, at the same mass in the Λ0π+π+π- channel. These signals are identified as being due to the decay of the charmed baryon Λ+sub(c) which is produced with a cross section times branching ratio sigmasub(c)B in the range 0.7-1.8 μb for the K-π+p decay and 0.3-0.7 μb for the Λ0 π+π+π- system. AbstractAbstract
[en] Two new examples of production by neutrinos and subsequent decay of charged charmed hadrons are reported. Together with two similar events reported previously they show that the lifetime of charged charmed particles is in the neighbourhood of 5 X 10-13s, as expected from current theoretical models. One of the new events is identified as a baryon Λ+sub(c) of mass 2.295 +- 0.015 GeV/c2 which undergoes the decay process Λ+sub(c) → pπ+K- with a proper decay time (7.3 +- 0.1) X 10-13 s. (Auth.)

[en] We calculate the decay rates of the charmed baryon state C+0(2.26) into 25 two body and quasi two body states involving baryons and mesons with Jsup(P) = 1/2+, 3/2+, 0- and 1-. These modes yield a width of Gamma = 15.5 x 1012 sec-1 and an inclusive yield of Λ/p approximately equal to 40%. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The production of a Λsub(c)+ charmed baryon has been observed in pp collisions at the CERN ISR. A sharp peak at 2.26 GeV/c2 was found in the decay mode Λsub(c)+→anti K*0p in events triggered with a forward K- meson. Also the decay mode Λsub(c)+→K-Δ++ seems to be present. The estimation of the total cross section for Λsub(c)+ production is given. However, the resulting value depends on the assumed form of the differential cross section. In addition, Λsub(c)+ production in events triggered by the presence of a direct electron is discussed. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A search for the charmed baryon, Λ+sub(c), has been carried out in inclusively measured Λ0π+-π+π- and K-π+-p final states with longitudinal x>0.75 in an experiment at the CERN intersecting storage rings. An effect with invariant mass near 2.3 GeV is observed in Λ0π+π+π- with cross section times branching ratio Bsigma=(2.8+-1.0)μb; a similar effect is observed in K-π+p with Bsigma=(2.3+-0.3)μb. The effect is seen only in the positive charge state, in agreement with an interpretation as Λ+sub(c). However, it is pointed out that in the same experiment, the non-charmed hyperon state Σ(1385)+ also has a cross section much larger than its corresponding negative charge state Σ(1385)-. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A search for charmed particles produced in strong interactions has been carried out by the method of a magnetic spark spectrometer. Searched are the decays of charmed barions and mesons produced in inclusive processes by neutrons with the mean momentum of approximately 45 GeV/c on a carbon target. The results of searching for charmed particles on the channels of the D+-→K+-π+-π+- (2), D0(anti D0)→K+-π+- (1), F+-→K+-K+-π+- (3), C+→pK-π+ (4), C+→p anti K0 (5) decays are presented. 2.3x106 events have been detected. The upper limits of partial cross sections have been obtained for production of charmed mesons decaying into two and three charged hadrons and of barion C+(2.26) according to (3)-(5) channels
