AbstractAbstract
[en] It is demonstrated that it is possible to identify the high energy part of the neutron spectrum with the process of quasi-free PEP emission for the reaction 12C+158Gd at 152 MeV. The possible role of other mechanisms (hot spot, friction) is also discussed. (P.L.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The 158Gd(n,γ)159Gd reaction was studied at 12 isolated neutron resonances by the TOF method at the IBR-30 Fast Pulse Reactor at JINR Dubna. Totally 15 secondary γ transitions in 159Gd were recorded in the range from 450 keV to 750 keV. Of these, six previously unseen transitions were placed on the established 159Gd level scheme. The depopulation of strongly populated levels at 507.7 keV and 558.2 keV (the head and the first excited members of band 1/2-[521]) was observed for the first time. It was shown that the observed 507.7 keV γ line, masked by the annihilation peak, originates from an unresolved doublet of transitions from the 507.7 keV level to the ground state and from the 558.2 keV level to the level at 50.7 keV. The 507.7 keV level decays exclusively to the ground state, while the 558.2 keV level decays via two transitions with a branching ratio that agrees well with the prediction according to Alaga's rule

AbstractAbstract
[en] An activity of 158Eu was produced by an (n,p) reaction upon an enriched gadulinum target by means of 14 MeV neutrons obtained from a SAMES generator. The gamma radiation accompanying the beta decay of 158Eu into 158Gd was detected by means of a Ge(Li) spectrometer. A 24-level decay scheme was devised and the transition probabilities were analyzed in terms of adiabatic theory and also including band mixing effects. The values of beta radiation intensities obtained from the experiments were compared with theoretical predictions calculated on the basis of the Nilsson model. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Energy levels and transitions in 159Gd were studied by means of radiative capture of resonance neutrons in 12 isolated resonances of 158Gd. The time-of-flight technique was used on an enriched target at the IBR-30 reactor at JINR, Dubna. A total of 80 primary gamma transitions were recorded, and their absolute intensities were determined resulting in the observation of 1/2± and 3/2± levels up to 2.4 MeV. Parities of the found levels were recalculated using two methods: the first method consists in analyzing of intensities averaging in 12 resonances, and in the second method individual intensities are analyzed. The second method is described for the first time.

Primary Subject
