AbstractAbstract
[en] The recently measured kaon spectrum from (π"-, K"+) reaction on "2"8Si target in the region of Σ production is analyzed in impulse approximation for different strengths of the Σ single particle nuclear potential U_Σ = V_Σ + iW_Σ. The comparison with the measured kaon spectrum leads to the conclusion that the potential V_Σ inside the nuclear core is strongly repulsive. A comparison with other estimates of the strength of V_Σ is presented. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The impulse approximation is modified so that the Galilean invariance will not be violated. A method is suggested how to take the nuclear motion very accurately into account. As an example, characteristics of 4He picnic atom are calculated

AbstractAbstract
[en] Theoretical calculations for excitation of hydrogen-like atoms by ion impact at high and intermediate energies, are presented. Impulsive and eikonal wave functions are employed, both normalized. It is studied the dependence on energy and projectil charge (saturation) of cross sections, compared to experimental results. (A.C.A.S.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The survey of works in which we develop the relativistic formalism for description of composite systems is given. The basis of the formalism is the procedure of decomposition of the matrix elements of local currents using the analogue of the Wigner-Eckart theorem for the Poincaré group. The impulse approximation is formulated without violation of Lorentz-covariance and conservation law. Some results of application of the method for description of the electroweak structure of composite systems are presented.

AbstractAbstract
[en] New accurate measurements of the deuteron A(q2) structure function for momentum transfers between 1 and 18 fm-2 are reported. Data are compared to several representative theoretical predictions. The neutron electric form factor is inferred from the data and its model dependence is discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] An approach to the electromagnetic structure of composite systems is developed. The method is based on the instant form of relativistic Hamiltonian dynamics and modified impulse approximation. Soft elastic charge form factors of π and K mesons as qQ-bar systems are calculated. The results are in good agreement with the available data. Relativistic effects are shown to be large even at low values of momentum transfer. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The dispersion of a spectrally-broad Cherenkov impulse of light generated in one end of both 500 m graded and step index fibers was measured. The 16-ns wide output pulse was decreased to less than 2 ns from the graded index fiber by restricting the detected spectrum to 5 nm using narrow band optical filtering. Attempts at further reduction were limited by inadequate measurement system sensitivity. The step index fiber response was not reducible below 4 ns, probably a consequence of residual mode dispersion. (U.S.)
