[en] Full text: It is possible to have universal quantum logic using using only linear optics and a quantum shutter device. With these elements a quantum memory for any number of qubits, as well as a deterministic CNOT gate, can be designed. We will revise the properties that such a quantum shutter system must have. AbstractAbstract
[en] We investigate the influence of material dispersion on the mechanism of self-shortening of femtosecond pulses interacting with fused silica plates having thicknesses an order of magnitude smaller than the dispersion length for the initial 72-fs pulse. The femtosecond pulse self-shortening is observed at large values of the B integral, when small-scale self-focusing develops in the central part of the pulse; this self-focusing plays the role of an optical shutter selecting the unperturbed radiation of the pulse leading edge. A study of the femtosecond pulse self-shortening in 1- and 3-mm-thick fused silica samples reveals that, under the experimental conditions in use, the self-phase modulation enhances the role of dispersion in the formation of a shortened pulse. With an increase in the sample thickness, the shortened pulse width increases as a result of the dispersion spread of the initial pulse in time. At the same time, this shortened pulse remains close to the transform-limited one, independent of the sample thickness. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The problem of environmental protection is one of the most pressing at present. Internal combustion engines (ICE) play a large role in environmental pollution. In large cities, they are the main sources of toxic substances emitted into the atmosphere. Harmful emissions of automotive engines cause serious diseases in people and farm animals, reduce crop yields (up to 25%) and reduce the quality of crops (potatoes, corn, grains, etc.), especially in the roadside highways. To reduce emissions of particulate matter, a particulate filter has been developed, in which the porous mesh material P300 and P685, one-sided twill mesh, is used as the filter material. Tests of the developed particulate filter show high efficiency of its work. The efficiency of cleaning from soot (ηC) during the diesel engine operation on the external speed characteristic for the C685 grid шs 90 ÷ 94%, for the P300 grid of three layers – 83÷92%, for the P300 grid of two layers – 71÷82%. AbstractAbstract
[en] This invention concerns a partial limiting block for radiation beams, permitting such limitation with a reduced penumbra; it also provides a collimator of reduced bulk equipped with such blocks. A partial limiting block for a beam of radiation emitted by a radiation source in a given reference direction, destined to limit a first part of the beam corresponding to a partial angle of the maximum opening, is characterized in that it constitutes a limiting block capable of a rectilinear displacement parallel to a first transverse axis in the reference direction, and comprises means of displacement and a cylindrical active surface, by which a new limit is imposed as a function of the position that the block occupies along the first axis, in order to limit the beam with a minimum of penumbra without modifying the orientation of the active surface

AbstractAbstract
[en] Between the exit window of a radiation source and the material to be irradiated radiation absorbing plates are located for closure of the window. The plates are fixed to two opposite walls of a box by means of tilting levers on two turnable shafts. The axis of the shafts are parallel to the long side of the window. A drive on one axis can be used to swivel the plates from the radiation area of the source to allow the irradiation of the material. By means of connecting pieces located on the opposite side of the drive, the plates can be cooled using a circulating cooling liquid. The device described above facilitates access to the window if the window foil has to be repaired

AbstractAbstract
[en] The collimator has a given number of orifice plates movable relative to one another. A gearing is provided on each orifice plate. An adjustment organ common to the given number of orifice plates is used to move the first of the orifice plates relative to the remaining orifice plates; it meshes with the first orifice plate while doing this. An interlock device engaging with the gearing of the remaining orifice plates interlocks the latter. A device is also provided for moving the adjustment organ from the gearing of the first orifice plate to the gearing of an adjacement second orifice plate. During the movement, the first orifice plate is interlocked and the interlock of the second orifice plate is released. (orig.)

(orig.)Original Title
