AbstractAbstract
[en] Electromagnetic transition rates and log ft values were calculated for transitions between positive-parity states in the A = 24 - 28 mass region. The wave functions used were taken from a previous paper. In general satisfactory agreement with the experiment was found. In order to obtain a measure of the stability of the results against changes in the Hamiltonian, a method was developed for assigning errors to calculated transition properties. The renormalized single-particle matrix elements of the E2 and M1 transition operators were determined in a phenomenological way. To this end, use was made of the errors just mentioned. It was found that good agreement was obtained with bare-nucleon M1 single-particle matrix elements and with a state independent effective isoscalar charge for the E2 operator. Predictions for static moments are given

AbstractAbstract
[en] The effect of age on chemical element mass fractions in intact prostate of 50 apparently healthy 0–30 year old males was investigated by neutron activation analysis with high resolution spectrometry of short-lived radionuclides. Mean values (M±SΕΜ) for mass fraction (mg kg−1, dry mass basis) of chemical elements before the time of puberty and in the period of puberty and post-puberty were: Br 46.0±6.7, Ca 1151±140, Cl 14572±700, K 10147±700, Mg 771±131, Mn 2.13±0.25, Na 9880±659 and Br 29.0±4.6, Ca 2049±364, Cl 11518±1121, K 13029±542, Mg 1186±134, Mn 1.74±0.16, Na 9887±716, respectively. A tendency of age-related increase in Ca, K, and Mg mass fraction and of age-related decrease in Br mass fraction was observed in period of life from 0 to 30 years. This new data indicates that of the elements studied, only the Ca, K, and Mg mass fraction in prostate tissue is an androgen-dependent parameter

AbstractAbstract
[en] The hyperfine structure of D2 lines of 21Na and 25Na was studied. The optical transitions were observed through magnetic filtering of an atom jet using a hexapolar magnet. An adequate resolution has been obtained for 25Na giving the value Q=(0.23+-0.08)barns. For 21Na only a rough estimation has been obtained Q=(-0.060+-0.075)barns

AbstractAbstract
[en] A polyisotopic sodium beam of 21-25Na, produced by spallation of Al, was illuminated by a tunable dye laser. The atomic beam, analyzed by a sixpole magnet is then ionized and detected after a mass spectrometer. The results are the isotope shifts, nuclear magnetic moment and quadrupole moment of 25Na

AbstractAbstract
[en] The antibody reactivity of human breast cancer sera was evaluated by means of radioimmunoassays and established breast cancer cell lines. When tested against the MDA-MB 231 cell line, 30 of 324 sera had detectable antibody reactivity. All the positive sera, however, reacted with other cell lines as well, generally including cultures initiated from sites other than breast cancers, and often including animal cell cultures. In competition radioimmunoassays the positive sera fell into various groups, indicating that a diversity of antigens was being detected. Two patients' sera identified antigens that were expressed on breast cancer cells but that were not expressed on an assortment of other cell types. Sera like these two, which identify potentially important tumor markers, could serve as valuable reagents for the analysis of the tumor-assiciated antigens of human breast cancer cells. (orig.)
