AbstractAbstract
[en] In this mini survey, a historical excursus into theoretical investigations on the diffraction theory of fundamental nuclear processes, the origins of which go back to work by Glauber (1955), is presented with an emphasis on recent achievements in the field.

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have completed a new set of total cross section measurements, snd have measured approximately 36 additional samples. The goal of the new measurements was 1% statistical accuracy in 1% energy bins with systematic errors less than 1%. This was achieved for all but the smallest samples, for which the statistical accuracy was as large as 2% in 1% bins. However, the energy resolution is significantly better than this at low energies. The samples were: * The APT spallation target material: W * Medium-mass stmctural materials: Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni * Actinides: Th, depleted U * Other materials for global optical model development: F, Mg, P, S, K, Y, Mo, In, Au, Hg, natural Pb * Separated isotopes of light nuclei: 6Li%, 7Li, 10B, 11B, 13C, * Medium- and heavy-mass separated isotopes: 54,56Fe, 182,183,184,186W * Few-nucleon physics: H, D

AbstractAbstract
[en] This letter summarized the recent simultaneous evaluation of 12 important neutron cross sections at an energy of 14.7 MeV. A full report of the evaluation is also available. The cross sections included in the evaluation, which are listed, were either measured as ratios or ''absolutely'' using a neutron fluence rate determined by the associated particle technique, which served to normalize the results. AbstractAbstract
[en] Using a simple optical model with correct normalization, the total hadron-nucleus cross section is expressed in terms of quantities characterizing the hadron-nucleon scattering and of some geometrical factors. On the basis of this expression, calculations are performed and a comparison with the experimental data for PIsup(+-)A reactions is made at the following energies: 180, 900, 1100, 1350, 1600 MeV. AbstractAbstract
[en] Total reaction cross-sections of neutron rich nuclei from C to Mg in a thick Si-target have been measured using the detection of the associated γ-rays in a 4Π-geometry. This cross-section strongly increases with neutron excess, indicating an increase of as much as 15% of the reduced strong absorption radius with respect to stable nuclei

AbstractAbstract
[en] Electron transfer from H2 to Th79+ was studied in a cryogenic Penning trap by non-destructively observing the sequential development with time of the charge state of one or a few stored particles. The ratio of the true double capture cross section to the total capture cross section was found to be 0.21 ± 0.11 at a mean center-of-mass energy near 6 eV. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Absolute total cross sections for single-electron-capture are measured for Ν2+ and N+ ions traversing N2 molecular gas of collision energies in the range of 0.60 to 1.5 keV. These cross sections are found to be in the range of 3.97 - 6.25 Å2 for Ν2+ ions, and in the range of 0.46 - 1.67 Å2 for N+ ions. A comparison is made between the present measurements of the total cross sections of the N+ + N2 system and all the experimental results, which are represented by B. G. Lindsay et al.,1 for the O+ + N2 system. The present measurements of the total cross section of the N+ + N2 system are in partial agreement with measurements of B. G. Lindsay et al.,1 and in an excellent agreement with the measurements of Moran et al.,2 The present measurements of the total cross sections of the Ν2+ + N2 system are compared to the theoretical calculations and the experimental results of the same system.23 The results are in disagreement with each other.
