AbstractAbstract
[en] Natural radioisotopes contained in foods can enter the human body by ingestion and contribute to internal doses to the population. It is necessary to measure the concentration of natural radioisotopes especially thorium in Korean foods and estimate the internal doses. In this study, we have established the thorium measuring process based on the thorium extraction chemical process and alpha spectroscopic method. The concentration of Th-228, Th-230 and Th-232 in Korean vegetables (potato, sweet potato, radish, cabbage, hot pepper, garlic, onion and pumpkin) and fruits(apple, persimmon, orange, pear, grape) are measured and their internal doses are estimated

AbstractAbstract
[en] The new COMPASS detection system designed and developed at GSI, Darmstadt was employed in the focal plane of the SHIP velocity filter online during a period of commissioning. The isotope 254No was initially measured for control purposes, following which the nuclei, 227U,228,230,229Np, and 229,230Pu were synthesized. The obtained data from alpha-decay spectroscopy is evaluated and compared with previous measurements. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Low spin states of 223Th have been populated via α-decay. The parent nucleus (227U, t1/2 ∼ 1 min) was formed in the reaction 208Pb(22Ne, 3n)227U, Ebeam = 110 MeV. Out-of-beam measurements of α-γ and α-e- coincidences were performed with the aid of a rotating target mechanism. These measurements have enabled a limited level scheme of the low-spin states in 223Th to be constructed, along with tentative Jπ assignments and α hindrance factors. The data are interpreted in terms of the geometric model assuming a static octupole deformation and compared to that for the N = 133 isotones 221Ra and 219Rn. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Available information on decay characteristics and level structure for all nuclei with A=227 has been examined. A summary and evaluation of experimental data, including adopted values and comparison with theory are presented. The individual level schemes are discussed, and comments pertaining to adopted spin and parity assignments and to gamma-ray multipolarities are given. Any apparent discrepancies and inconsistencies are pointed out.Much of the level information in the A=227 mass chain is obtained from the a-decay of the A=231 parent nuclei. While a summary of these results is reflected in both the level schemes and in discussions under ''Level Properties'' and ''Gamma-Ray Properties'', the actual data are presented under the respective A=231 parent. Information concerning the decay of nuclei with A=231 was taken from 71Art1, but the data were verified for correspondence with the more recent evaluation for A=231, 77Sc15.Decay energies and separation energies have been taken systematically from the 1977 Mass Adjustment (76WaBo, 77Wa08). Detailed comparison has been made between the adopted a-energies and the input values to the Mass Adjustment

AbstractAbstract
[en] The evaluated spectroscopic data are presented for ten known nuclides of mass 227 (Po, At, Rn, Fr, Ra, Ac, Th, Pa, U, Np). For "2"2"7Po, "2"2"7At, "2"2"7Rn, "2"2"7Pa, "2"2"7U and "2"2"7Np nuclei, only the ground-state information is available. Their decay characteristics are mostly unknown. Levels in "2"2"7Fr are known only from the decay of "2"2"7Rn to "2"2"7Fr. This decay scheme at present cannot be normalized to deduce γ intensities per 100 decays due to lack of knowledge about multipolarities of many low-energy transitions. The levels in "2"2"7Ra, "2"2"7Ac and "2"2"7Th are known from several decays and reactions, including particle-transfer data for "2"2"7Ra and "2"2"7Ac. The decay scheme of "2"2"7Ra to "2"2"7Ac was last studied in 1971 using small Ge detectors. Improved γ-ray intensity data need to be obtained with a better γ-detection system. The datasets for "2"2"7Ac have undergone extensive revisions, including detailed data for 231Pa α decay from 1986BaYK report, and single-proton transfer data from 1986MaYU thesis. High-spin (J>13/2 or so) structures are known only for 227Th. Level lifetime data are quite scarce for all the nuclides in this mass chain, thus limiting the knowledge of reduced transition probabilities. Band structures for "2"2"7Fr, "2"2"7Ra, "2"2"7Ac and "2"2"7Th are known in detail, together with evidence of weak octupole deformation and consequent parity-doublet structures. This evaluation was carried out as part of a joint IAEA-ICTP workshop for Nuclear Structure and Decay Data, organized and hosted by the IAEA, Vienna and ICTP, Trieste, March 24–28, 2014. The evaluation work was coordinated by B. Singh (McMaster). This work supersedes previous A=227 evaluation (2001Br31) published by E. Browne which covered literature before May 2001.
