AbstractAbstract
[en] About 100 fuel rods for TRIGA Mark III reactor to be loaded are tested by radiographic technique in KAERI with 170 KV and 2 MeV X-ray. Manufacturing conditions of the fuel pellets have been found to be irregular. Many of the pellets of fuel rods are cracked. Many spots are found on radiographic film, which are sure to be voids. AbstractAbstract
[en] Seventeen patients with mandibular oblation for facial neoplasia, primary neoplasm, and trauma were evaluated with CT and three-dimensional CT. In eight of these patients, a computerized acrylic model was generated for preoperative planning and postoperative reconstruction. The ramus and body of the mandible were reconstructed with mirror image and fusion techniques. Reconstructions of the anterior mandible were generated from models including the midface, skull based, and residual mandibular fragments. The results are preliminary; however, the authors believe that these represent a powerful new tool and a significant advance in mandibular reconstructive technique, reduced anesthesia time, and the optimized restoration of dental alignment and facial contour

AbstractAbstract
[en] Techniques for uncoiling knots formed in catheters during angiography have been the subject of several previous reports. A new technique for catheter unknotting is presented, based on the use of graded flexibility guidewires. The application of this graded taper method appears particularly pertinent to uncoiling softer, narrow caliber, adversely looped catheters. Moreover, the mechanisms of knot uncoiling in the previous reports are reassessed and their imprecisions corrected. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Vinpocetine is a highly specific inhibitor of calmodulin-dependent phosphodiesterase (CaM-PDE) with an IC50 of 19 microM and produces a significant accumulation of cyclic GMP but not cyclic AMP in rabbit aorta. In isolated rabbit aortic strips, vinpocetine (0.01 and 0.1 mM) inhibited the contraction and 45Ca uptake due to both phenylephrine (1 microM) and KCl (40 mM), whereas 8-Br-cyclic GMP (0.1-1mM) selectively impaired phenylephrine-induced responses. Furthermore, the KCl-stimulated 45Ca efflux in normal Ca2+ buffer, which reflects elevated cytosolic Ca2+, was greatly diminished by vinpocetine but not by 8-Br-cyclic GMP. However, phenylephrine-induced 45Ca efflux and contraction in Ca2+-free buffer, which reflect Ca2+ release from intracellular sites, were similarly inhibited by both vinpocetine and 8-Br-cyclic GMP. The results suggest that vinpocetine may effect vasodilatation through blockade of the slow channel and selective inhibition of CaM-PDE in the vascular smooth muscle

AbstractAbstract
[en] Early diagnosis and treatment of asymptomatic intraspinal cerebrospinal fluid-borne metastases can obviate serious sequelae in pediatric patients with known intracranial tumors. MR imaging is a superior imaging modality; however, in very young patients who need general anesthesia for immobilization and also for evaluation of small subarachnoid seedings, the authors found CT to be a valuable alternative. Twelve patients ranging in age from 3 months to 13 years underwent CT screening of the entire spine after intrathecal enhancement with 3-5 ml of metrizamide (100 mg iodine per milliliter) via a lumbar puncture. Intrathecal spinal metastases were found in 67% of the studied patients and even in a patient whose MR imaging examination failed to disclose the lesion

AbstractAbstract
[en] 1. Fatigue Crack Sizing by Neutron, X-ray and Ultrasonics. For the purpose of sizing fatigue cracks, fatigue crack were measured by X-ray, ultrasonics and neutron beam. After fatigue cracks were formed in aluminum specimen, cracks measured by scale were 14.0 and 23.5mm and those by neutron radiography which was the closest values to those measured by scale, were 12.5 and 23.5mm. These results by neutron radiography were obtained by penetrating Cd(NO3)2-4H2O as neutron absorbent. Therefore if proper penetrant is selected per specimen, neutron radiography is the most effective method to get good results of all nondestructive testing methods. 2. Discussion of Mechanized Ultrasonic Examination for RPV Outlet Nozzle-to-Shell Weld. Mechanized ultrasonic examination methods for the Kori unit 1 RPV outlet nozzle-to-shell weld were reviewed. The result from the preservice inspection and the second inservice inspection were compared with respect to the ultrasonic methods, calibration blocks, calibration methods and applied ASME codes. Ultrasonic attenuotion measurement was performed and calibration methods were simulated by using two calibration blocks. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The phase stability of atomized U-10wt.% Mo powder and the thermal compatibility of dispersed fuel meats at elevated temperature were characterized. Atomized U-10wt.% Mo powder generally had a good γ-U phase stability during annealing at elevated temperatures. It is thought that the stability was related to supersaturation of substitutional molybdenum atoms in the metastable γ-U solid solution of atomized U-10wt.% Mo powder. The penetration mechanisms of the atomized U-10wt.% Mo particles at 500oC were classified as (a) through phase interface, leaving a kernel-like unreacted island, (b) through cell boundaries, showing several unreacted islands and more reacted regions. It is supposed that such islands originated from the decomposition of γ-U solid solution. The intermediate layer thickness and volume increase of the dispersion U-10wt.% Mo fuel specimens were almost the same as those of U3Si2 fuel, independent of annealing time. (author)hor)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The uptake ratio of supplying P32 labelled double superphosphate and the hastening efficiency of the uptake by addition of magnesium sulfate to the fertilizer were studied on the xPopulus albaglandulosa planted with 0/1 cutting in 1975. The results are summerized as follows. Average 13% of supplying double superphosphate was absorbed into xPopulus albaglandulosa planted on the reddish heavy clay soil in Institute of Forest Genetics. The accumulation of absorbed magnesium was more amount in leaf than in stem. The uptake ratio of supplying double superphosphate was able to increase up to 16%-33% by the addition of magnesium sulfate to the fertilizer. It might be possible to increase the tree growth following the acceleration of photosynthesis due to the increasing amount of magnesium known to be a component of chlorophyll in leaf as well as to hasten the efficiency of uptake of phosphorus by the addition of magnesium to double superphosphate. AbstractAbstract
[en] Highlights: • A newly upgraded In-Vessel Control Coil(IVCC) system has been installed in KSTAR. • The system consists of broadband power supplies and a current connection patch panel. • The system has been confirmed for various dynamic demands of 3D magnetic field configurations. • It can help expand understanding of the 3D tokamak physics. - Abstract: A newly upgraded IVCC (In-Vessel Control Coil) system equipped with four broadband power supplies, along with a current connection patch panel, are introduced with a discussion of their capabilities on various KSTAR experiments. Until the 2014 KSTAR experimental campaign, the non-axisymmetric field configuration could not be changed in a shot, let alone the limited number of accessible configurations. With the installation of the new power supplies, such restrictions have been greatly reduced. Based on the 2015 KSTAR run-campaign, this new system was confirmed to easily cope with various dynamic demands for toroidal and poloidal phases of the 3D magnetic field in a shot. With newly equipped magnetic sensors, this enables us to extend the operational options and further explore the 3D physics for tokamak plasmas.
