AbstractAbstract
[en] A number of radiopharmaceuticals are evaluated as to their usefulness for the reliable localization of malignant tumors by radioisotope scanning. Compounds discussed include 75Se-selenomethionine, 32P-phosphate, /sup 99m/Tc-phosphate, 67Ga-citrate, and 111In-bleomycin. It is pointed out that no ideal agent has yet been found and that considerable difficulties exist in comparing one clinical series with another

[en] The literature on gallium imaging in mycosis fungoides is limited and conflicting. A case of mycosis fungoides with increased uptake of Ga-67 in clinically noninfected skin lesions is reported. The literature regarding mycosis fungoides and gallium imaging is reviewed

[en] The method is described for labeling indocyanine green (ICG) with carrier-free iodine-123 by condensing xenon-123 on crystals of ICG followed by permitting decay of the 123Xe a sufficient length of time to produce 123I-electronically excited ions and atoms which subsequently label ICG. 4 claims, no drawings

AbstractAbstract
[en] This report summarizes the results to develop an iodine-123 labeled agent for dynamic studies of the hepato-biliary system. Iodine-123 is an ideal nuclide for radiopharmaceuticals, because of its short half-life (T/sub 1/2/ = 13.3 hr); its decay with a high abundance (83%) of 159 keV photons; and the reduced patient radiation exposure (a factor of 100 less than iodine-131). Indocyanine green, a tricarbanocyanine dye, was introduced by Heseltine and co-workers in 1956, has several characteristics which suggested that iodine-123 labeled ICG might be potentially useful for hepatic functional evaluation. The plasma clearance and biliary excretion kinetics of 123I-ICG (in dogs) will be compared to 131I-rose bengal and bromosulphalein labeled with iodine-125

AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors have compared the standard Tc-99m DTPA and Tc-99m HMPAO studies for evaluating brain cell viability and brain death. Thirteen studies were performed on 12 patients with various diseases, including four head traumas, three strokes, one acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), one adult respiratory disease syndrome (ARDS), one meningitis, one hypoglycemic coma, and one cerebral infarct. All were on life-support systems. Each received 20 mCi Tc-99m DTPA for cerebral flow and blood pool studies. Then, 20 mCi Tc-99m HMPAO was given for flow study and tissue phase images
