AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper reviews briefly the experiments in which momentum spectra of pions, protons and deuterons emitted at different angles in the interval up to 30 deg and at 90 deg (pions only) in the collisions of protons with an energy of 670 MeV as well as protons and deuterons with a momentum of 4.3, 6.3 and 8.9 GeV/c from various atomic nuclei (H, D, Li, Be, C, Al, Cu, Pb, Bi, U) are studied. These experiments were the first in which direct knocking-out of deuterons induced by high-energy protons has been found out and analyzed. The results of investigation of inclusive proton and deuteron spectra the main features of which are reproduced satisfactorily within the multiple NN diffraction scattering model are described. There are also quoted the results of analysis of inelastic scattered deuteron spectra within the quark-parton interaction picture. The experimental data have been obtained at the JINR 6 meter synchrocyclotron using the magnetic spectrometer with a telescope of scintillation counters and at the JINR synchrophasotron using the one-arm magnetic spectrometer with wire spark chambers

AbstractAbstract
[en] The expressions for the momentum spectra of relativistic deuterons experienced quasi-elastic (with target deuteron breakup) scattering on deuterons are obtained in the framework of the multiple nucleon-nucleon scattering model. The results of calculations, exhibiting the development of the structure of the high-momentum parts of the deuteron spectra due to the contributions of the various multiple NN scatterings, are given for an initial deuteron momentum of 8.9 GeV/c and scattering angles of 100-160 mrad. It is shown that the contribution of quasielastic dd scattering to the spectrum regions corresponding kinematically to the elastic dd scattering is equal to 15-30%

AbstractAbstract
[en] The experimental data on d-d collisions at 4.3, 6.3 and 8.9 GeV/c exhibiting the two-peak structure in the high-momentum parts of the secondary deuteron spectra at momentum transfers (t) approximately 0.4-0.8 (GeV/c) are presented. An analysis of the results in terms of the multiple nucleon-nucleon scattering model is performed. Some conclusions about the mechanism of the elastic and quasi-elastic d-d scattering at the above-mentioned momentum transfers are made. This scattering occurs, in the main, by means of such double scattering when in simultaneous collisions both the nucleons of the incident deuteron scatter each on one of the two target nucleons. Such a mechanism of the elastic d-d scattering allows rather great momentum transfers to both the deuteron nucleons at their small relative momentum

AbstractAbstract
[en] The momentum spectra of secondary deuterons emitted at an angle of 103 mrad in the interactions of 4.3, 6.3 and 8.9 GeV/c deuterons with C, Al, Bi sup(1,2)H and sup(6,7)Li nuclei have been measured. The experiments were carried out with the deuteron beam, extracted from JINR synchrophasotron. The analysis of the results in the framework of the multiple nucleon-nucleon scattering model is given. The observed momentum spectra of deuterons from d-C collisions have been qualitatively described on the assumption that in relativistic deuteron collisions the processes are of importance in which nuclear nucleons involved in interactions with incident deuterons should be emitted in the bound state

AbstractAbstract
[en] The tensor analyzing powers T20 and T22 of the nuclear fragmentation reaction of 9 GeV/c deuterons with the proton emission at nonzero angles are calculated. The calculations are carried out with the deuteron wave functions corresponding to different N-N scattering potentials. The change in the polarization of nucleons, arising as a result of motion of a polarized deuteron, is analyzed. An experimental observation of this effect can be used to make a choice between the instantaneous shape and light front dynamics for describing the deuteron structure at small distances. 20 refs., 6 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] A two-peaked structure from previous work is studied in the deuteron momentum spectrum in the process d + d → d + X at 4.3 to 8.9 GeV/c. It is concluded that the elastic deuteron scattering at momentum transfers approx. 0.3 to 1.0 (GeV/c)2 occurs in the main through such double scatterings when in simultaneous collisions both the nucleons of the incident deuteron scatter each on one of the two target nucleons. Such a mechanism permits rather a great momentum to both the deuteron nucleon to be transferred without disturbing their relative intranuclear motion. 7 references

AbstractAbstract
[en] The tensor Ayy and vector Ay analyzing powers in the inelastic scattering of deuterons with a momentum of 4.5 GeV/c on beryllium at an angle of ∝80 mr in the vicinity of baryonic resonance excitation have been measured. The Ayy data being in good agreement with the previous results obtained at a zero angle demonstrate an approximate t scaling up to ∝-0.9 (GeV/c)2. The results of the experiment are compared with the predictions of the multiple-scattering and ω-meson exchange models. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The proton spectra from deuteron break-up on H, D, 12C, 27Al and 209Bi nuclei were measured at an angle of 103 mrad (lab. system) in the momentum interval from 2.6 to 3.6 GeV/c. The measurements were made at the JINR synchrophasotron by one-arm magnetic spectrometer on-line with a computer. The extracted 6.3 GeV/c deuteron beam was incident on targets of CH2, CD2, C, Al and Bi at the thickness from 0.8 to 2 g/cm2. The flux of deuteron beam was equal to 5x108-5x109 particles/pulse with a typical pulse length of 300 ms. The repetition rate was one pulse every 10 s. Proton peaks with the maximum at about 3.1 GeV/c and 280-300 MeV/c FWHM dominate in all the measured spectra. Experimental proton spectra are compared with calculations with the Reid, the Moravcsik Gartenhaus, the Hulten and the Gauss wave functions. The results, on the whole, are reasonably reproduced in the framework of the Glauber multiple scattering model taking into account the relativistic deformation of the deuteron wave function

AbstractAbstract
[en] The vector polarization of the deuteron beam of the JINR Synchrophasotron (2.5≤Pd≤9.0 GeV/c) was measured and monitored by the pp beam polarimeter. Considering the deuteron beam as a beam of weakly bound protons and neutrons, the asymmetries of scattering of protons from deuterons on thin polyethylene and carbon targets were determined. The polarimeter is described, and the values of the vector polarization of the deuteron beam and of the CH2 analyzing power are given
