AbstractAbstract
[en] The basic principles of a thermonuclear system are reported in paper. In short, they lead to the following. A plasma heating and its confinement in the radial direction is accomplished by an imploding cylindrical liner; in the axial direction of the plasma is confined by solid end plugs. A longitudinal magnetic field is used only for reducing thermal conduction losses on a wall. Radial plasma losses depend largely on the magnetic field magnitude on the plasma-liner boundary. The magnetic field strength in this region is determined by competition of three processes: the removal of magnetic field because of a hot plasma motion to the wall, the magnetic field generation due to thermo-emf near the wall and the field diffusion into the liner. If the liner resistance is low the magnetic flux is accumulated near the wall and the plasma confinement will approach to purely magnetic one. In the case of poorly-conducting liner the magnetic flux will penetrate through it and the plasma column confinement will become completely gas-kinetic. If the metal liner is used with allowance for its heating-up due to a heat flux from the plasma and the magnetic field diffusion an intermediate situation can be realized with a partial gas-kinetic confinement, which is the object of investigation of this paper

AbstractAbstract
[en] Plasma/material interaction was studied in disruption simulation experiments at the plasma gun facility MK-200 UG. Graphite, tungsten and aluminium targets (beryllium-like material) were irradiated by intense plasma streams under heat fluxes typical for international thermonuclear experimental reactor (ITER) hard disruption. Materials were also exposed to radiation emitted by target plasma shields. Surface damage and erosion products were analysed

AbstractAbstract
[en] One presents the results of measurements of quartz erosion to determine density of power incident on the surface of the studied specimen. The experiments were conducted in terms of simulation of heat loads on the divertor plates at breakaways in tokamaks. The fused quartz plate was exposed to deuterium plasma high-temperature flux. The quartz erosion was shown to begin practically immediately upon jet collided with surface. The eroded material shielded a quartz surface from further destruction and the integral coefficient of shielding under the described experiment conditions constituted ∼ 17. As a result the total erosion of the plate constituted about 0.75 μm during 35 μs of process at ∼ 150 J/cm2 jet energy density. One determined the density of energy power incident on the quartz specimen surface

Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] One of the well-established types of thermonuclear reactor is a plasma compression system using an imploding liner. Over a number of years, two approaches have been adopted for building this type of system at the Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy: (1) a straight Z-pinch liner compressing a magnetized plasma by gas-kinetic pressure; (2) a quasi-spherical liner compressing a compact plasma formation in a closed magnetic field. AbstractAbstract
[en] The dynamics and spatial distribution of the electron temperature in the screening layer plasma are investigated experimentally. The layer is produced during the interaction of intensive (10 MW/cm2) plasma flows with tungsten are graphite targets. It is found that the target plasma is hot (Te > 50 eV) up to 3 mm from the graphite surface. The role of the low-dense corona of the screening layer on the energy balance of interaction is analyzed
