AbstractAbstract
[en] A complete statistical model analysis is presented for the 79Rb compound nucleus formed by the 16O + 63Cu and 34S + 45Sc reactions on a broad excitation energy interval. Most of all deexcitation channels are compared with the predictions of the codes ALICE and JULIAN. The results show that γ-ray competion with particles emission in the deexcitation of the 79Rb compound nucleus is very important. From these comparisons, a detailed analysis is performed on the approximations made in both evaporation codes

AbstractAbstract
[en] Absolute values of the cross sections for most evaporation channels consecutive to the complete 16O+63Cu fusion have been measured for incident 16O energies ranging between 40 and 85MeV, through the observation of the corresponding γ activities. They give evidence for a limitation in the contributing incident partial waves for energies above 50MeV. The excitation functions of the various evaporation channels are satisfactorily accounted for, in shape and magnitude, by statistical evaporation calculations performed with the code ALICE. They allow a very precise determination of the variation of the critical angular momentum with the excitation energy of the compound nucleus

AbstractAbstract
[en] Fusion excitation function of the 40Ca+ 40Ca system has been studied at energies close to the threshold through the measurements of γ activity following particle evaporation from the 80Zr compound nucleus. Our results are in strong disagreement with early results of Doubre and in good agreement with recent results of Tomasi et al. The excitation function of the various evaporation channels are consistent with the estimates of a crude statistical evaporation calculation. The experimental fusion excitation function is in good agreement with current model predictions

AbstractAbstract
[en] Absolute cross sections for most evaporation channels consecutive to the 16O + 63Cu and 34S + 45Sc complete fusion reactions have been measured through observation of the corresponding γ-activities at excitation energies of the 79Rb compound nucleus ranging between 32 and 74 MeV. They give evidence for an angular momentum population of the 79Rb compound nucleus independent of the entrance channel. The energy variations of the complete-fusion cross sections are compared to model predictions with and without friction. This comparison suggests that the 34S + 45Sc system could be deformed at the contact position. The cross sections of most deexcitation channels are compared with the predictions of the codes ALICE and JULIAN. The results show that γ-ray competition with particle emission in the deexcitation of the 79Rb compound nucleus is very important. From these comparisons, a detailed analysis is performed on the approximations made in both evaporation codes. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The excitation function for the fission isomer sup(240m) Pu produced in the reaction of 238U with α particles, has been measured at laboratory incident energies ranging from 20.1 to 27.3 MeV. A value of 3.8 sup(+0.6) sub(-0.4) nsec was obtained for the half-life of sup(240m) Pu. The results are compared with other measurements performed using different experimental methods. (Author)
