[en] An improvement in the jet isotope separation method is claimed. The step of conducting the mixture through a nozzle into a separating chamber is carried out by distributing the mixture uniformly around the axis of the chamber and feeding it into the chamber from all sides in radial directions along a plane. The step of removing the partial streams includes causing the lightest stream to flow radially out of the separating chamber in a plane approximately parallel to the plane along which the mixture is fed into the chamber

[en] A method for producing a component of a separation element for separating a gaseous mixture into fractions is claimed. The element is composed of separating nozzle structures presenting passages defining mixture supply channels, separating chambers and fraction discharge channels. A negative mold of the component is formed by providing a plate of an electrically non-conductive material, whose ability to be removed from the plate is influenced by application of selected radiation. Portions of the plate are irradiated in a pattern corresponding to the passage presented by the nozzle structure to an extent such that material outside of the regions delimiting the passages is removable more easily than material within those regions. The plate of the electrically non-conductive material is mounted on a substrate of an electrically conductive material either before or after irradiation. Material is removed from the plate to create the negative mold of the component. The openings are electrochemically filled with a metal to create a sold plate-shaped member and the negative mold is removed

[en] Double-turn separation nozzles, in comparison with single-turn separation nozzles, offer much greater advantages in the separation of UF6 and H2 than in the separation of the U isotopes, for which the double-turn separation nozzles were conceived. By using a double-turn separation-nozzle stage as a preseparation stage in combination with a low-temperature separator, one can reduce the ratio of the buffer input stream to the product stream, in contrast with the solution used up to this time, with only a slight increase in cost of about an order of magnitude. The control program in the case of return feeding of the UF6 from the buffer and the danger of production losses connected with it are thereby correspondingly diminished. An example is given of the enrichment of 235U using the title facility with UF6. (orig./PW)
