AbstractAbstract
[en] The differential cross sections for elastic and quasielastic scattering of α particles with momentum of 17.9 GeV/c by C, Al, and Cu nuclei have been measured over the momentum-transfer interval 0.009< or approx. =Vertical BartVertical Bar< or approx. =0.175 (GeV/c)2. The results are compared in terms of geometric scaling variables and analyzed in the Glauber-Sitenko diffraction theory of multiple scattering. Possible reasons for the observed discrepancies with theory are discussed. This work was carried out in the High-Energy Laboratory at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research

AbstractAbstract
[en] The inclusive double differential cross sections for the proton yield in the 6.8 GeV/c proton scattering on hydrogen and C, Al, Cu, Sn, Pb nuclei have been measured by using the one-arm magnetic spectrometer with proportional chambers, scintillation coUnters and CAMAC electronics. The absolute values of the double differential cross sections have been obtained for angles between 17 μrad - 40 μrad and momenta in the 4.0 GeV/c<=p<=6.8 GeV/c range. If one approximates differential cross sections by simple power function of the target atomic number, then for nuclei with A>=12 the exponent of such a function will be practically constant within the mentioned kinematical intervals. Total systematic errors do not exceed 8-10%. Obtained data are presented in graphs and tables

AbstractAbstract
[en] The work appears to be the project of an experiment on measuring the pC-scattering analysing power in relation to the proton polarization for 1.5-2.5 GeV/c insident proton momentum transfers. The region of methodic and physical problems of the experiment is determined. A possibility of stripping-proton beam production with 40% polarization on a beam of synchrophasotron polarized deuterons is shown, evaluations of its intensity are made. It is shown that the program of the experiment is realizable within the framework of the MSU setup capabilities and requires 200 hours of acceleration tink on a beam of polarized deuterons. 18 refs.; 6 figs.; 4 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Hadron absorption coefficients in the nuclear matter are measured for incoherent channels of multiparticle production by relative attenuation of the beam of leading particles emerging within a fixed interval of momenta and emission angles from various nuclei as compared with pp interaction. The rearrangement of hadron quark structure in substantially inelastic soft processes if there is any entails no significant disturbances at the level of real particle properties or but momentary disturbances (τ≤0.01 ℎ/mπc2) which at energies 10 to 20 GeV escape observation. In this energy range incoherent proton fragmentation on nuclei proceeds generally through a bound baryonic state (type of an isobar or diffractive cluster) being absorbed in the nuclear matter like an ordinary proton and decaying into hadrons outside the nucleus. 2 refs.; 9 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Absolute differential cross sections for elastic αp scattering and the sum of elastic and quasielastic αα scattering have been measured with a normalization error no more than 3% for α particles with momentum 17.9 GeV/c in the interval of squared 4-momentum transfers 0.01< Vertical Bar t Vertical Bar<0.02 (GeV/c)2. These measurements in the energy region of several GeV/nucleon are made for the first time. We have determined total cross sections, diffraction-peak slope parameters, and total elastic cross sections for αp and αα scattering. The data are compared with calculations carried out in the framework of the Glauber-Sitenko diffraction theory of multiple scattering. A deviation of the calculated differential cross sections from the experimental values is observed; in the region of the diffraction peak it amounts to 10--15% and has different signs for αp and αα scattering
