[en] An overview of some recent results on nuclear moment measurements on isomers is being given. Neutron rich isomers have been produced in a fragmentation reaction at GANIL. Using the spin-orientation of the fragment beam, isomeric g-factors around ⁶⁸Ni have been measured by detecting the Larmor precession via the isomeric γ-decay (TDPAD-method). Isomers in the mass A∼180 region were produced in a fusion-evaporation reaction at Louvain-la-Neuve. The quadrupole moment of a 5 quasi-particle isomer in the deformed nucleus ¹⁷⁹W was measured using the Level Mixing Spectroscopy (LEMS) method. Both results show how details on the nuclear structure can be investigated via nuclear moment measurements. (author)

[en] Ground-state properties of neutron-rich ^29,31Mg have been recently measured at ISOLDE/CERN in the context of shell structure far from stability. By combining the results of β-NMR and hyperfine-structure measurements unambiguous values of the nuclear spin and magnetic moment of ³¹Mg are obtained. I ^π=1/2⁺ and μ=-0.88355(15) μ_N can be explained only by an intruder ground state with at least 2p-2h excitations, revealing the weakening of the N=20 shell gap in this nucleus. This result plays an important role in the understanding of the mechanism and boundaries of the so called ''island of inversion''. (orig.)

[en] The quadrupole moment of the 8⁺ yrast state in ⁸⁴Kr was measured using the level-mixing spectroscopy technique to be Q = 36(4) efm². The result is compared with predictions of the shell model using common sets of effective charges. The comparison of experimental quadrupole moments with calculated values of 8⁺ states in Kr, Sr and Zr isotopes with N = 48, 50 and for 9/2⁺ states in isotopes with N = 47, 49 suggests a modification of the effective charges used in this region.
