AbstractAbstract
[en] Dimuon data provided by πN interactions were analysed in the framework of the Drell-Yan quark fusion model in order to extract the pion and nucleon structure functions. Our results are compared to the structure functions obtained in other experiments

AbstractAbstract
[en] This chapter investigates vector meson spectroscopy in the mass range 1-1.7 GeV. Two electron final states are expected to be detected and measured using the Low-Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR). Topics covered include the shower detector, drift tubes, the Cerenkov counters, and the central detector. The branching ratios vary from 3 X 10-7 at rest to 10-8 at 2 GeV/c, so that a fast and efficient electron identification is needed in order to have a reasonable signal to noise ratio already at trigger level (200-600 ns). The experimental apparatus consists of (starting from the magnet center) a hydrogen target, a central detector (CD), Cerenkov counters (C), an H1 hodoscope (H1), drift tubes (DT), a shower detector (SD, 2 rad. lengths), an H2 hodoscope (H2), and a shower detector (SD, 5.5 r.l.). An electron is identified by C, SD, H2 and is timed by C X H1 X H2

AbstractAbstract
[en] Radioactive tracers are used to localize, identify and follow chemical species, particulates or living organisms. These tracers are easy to detect and can have the same physical, hydrodynamical or chemical behaviour as the mass of matter to follow. This digest paper gives an overview of the main radioactive tracer techniques used in the domains of chemical, processes and mechanical engineering, in hydrogeology, pollutants migration studies, dynamical sedimentology and agronomy. AbstractAbstract
[en] Some known models of hadron-hadron interaction (Drell-Yan and twist model of Berger and Brodsky) are presented. Comparison between the experimental data on hadroproduction of dimuons and the predictions of the Prell-Yan model as to angular distribution, absolute cross section, beam dependence and scaling is given. AbstractAbstract
[en] The first measurement of the kaon to pion structure function ratio has been performed in a high integrated luminosity experiment studying the production of massive muon pairs. The ratio anti usub(K)/anti usub(π) clearly deviates from 1 for values of x1 >= 0.7. A theoretical model comparison is also briefly discussed. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The first physics results from the CPLEAR experiment are presented. The aim is the precise study of CP violation in the neutral kaon system through the measurement of the time dependent decay asymmetries between particles and antiparticles, K0 and K-bar0. The major achievement of this analysis is the first observation of the K0-K-bar0 differential time asymmetry in the π+π- decay channel. (R.P.) 4 refs., 7 figs., 1 tab

AbstractAbstract
[en] The results of experiment PS170 performed at LEAR, at CERN, are presented here. The experiment has determined the values of the proton electromagnetic form factor for s ranging from threshold up to 4.2 GeV2. The precise measurements performed show the s dependence near threshold not in agreement with the models describing the results of the previous experiments. The authors have also measured the angular distribution of the e+e- pairs at the different energies. The results are compatible with the |GE| = |GM| hypothesis. 6 refs., 2 figs., 1 tab
