AbstractAbstract
[en] A comparative study was made of the neutron activation technique and atomic absorption spectrometry applied for the analysis of high purity Bi2O3 and PbCl2. The study showed that in most cases NAA is sensitive enough to give reliable results. Atomic absorption spectroscopy was preferable for some elements which cannot be determined by NAA due to high matrice activity. So the combination of the two methods proved very successful and permits the determination of more than 20 elements. Additionally this approach enabled to control the accuracy of the method by comparison of the results obtained

AbstractAbstract
[en] The 102Pd(α,2nß)104Cd reaction has been utilized for the investigation of the quasirotational ground state band in 104Cd. Single ß-ray spectra, ß-ray excitation functions, angular distributions, and ß-ß coincidence measurements were performed by means of Ge(Li) detectors. The results are discussed in terms of the variable-moment-of-inertia (VMI) model. For even-mass Cd isotopes a shell effect is observed, the nucleus becoming softer in the vicinity of the closed subshell. (author)

[en] The polarimeter constructed from two standard hyperpure Ge hori zontal type detectors has a good energy resolution and a high polarization sensitivity. The usefulness of the polarimeter has been demonstrated in an example of the spin-parity assignment of the 485.5 keV state in 70As.(authors)

[en] The fission probability of the nucleus of the sup(232)Th muonic atom has been measured. The fission yield was measured simultaneously with the intensity of 5g-4f transition in the muonic atom sup(232)Th. A good agreement with previous result obtained in measurements with the fission chamber and evident disagreement with the photoemulsion data have been obtained

[en] A new method for gold determination in ore is presented. By the method called PREFIX (preconcentration and X-ray fluorescence), it is possible to detect trace concentrations of gold down to the level of 0.2 μg/g, without any device. (author) 2 refs.; 2 figs.; 2 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] It is clearly demonstrated that the transition gamma-ray strengths depend not only on the mass number but also on the type of nucleus (doubly-even, doubly-odd, odd neutron, odd proton). New upper limits for E1 and M1 gamma-ray strengths are recommended especially for odd-odd nuclei in six regions with A between 6 and 190. An example given for the 70 As level scheme demonstrates that these new RUL are a more useful tool in the nuclear spectroscopy than those known in literature. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] For nuclear methods are critically regarded from the point of view of the nondestructive analyses of the ancient coins. The information they can give and the reliability of each method are discussed. The coins analyzed are eleven Thasian tetradrachmas from the Chiselet hoard, minted during the second and first centuries BC. Much information can be obtained about the original ore and ancient minting technology. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The thermo-physical properties of Heavy Liquid Metals (HLM), like lead or its alloy, Lead Bismuth Eutectic (LBE), makes them attractive as coolant candidates in advanced nuclear systems. The opaqueness, that is common to all liquid metals, disables all optical methods. For this reason ultrasound waves are used in different applications in heavy liquid metal technology, for example for flow and velocity measurements and for inspection techniques. The practical use of ultrasound in heavy liquid metals still needs to be demonstrated by experiments. This goal requires heavy liquid metal technology facility especially adapted to this task. In this paper is presented an experimental testing facility for investigations of Heavy Liquid Metals acoustic properties, designed and constructed in RATEN ICN. (authors)
