AbstractAbstract
[en] A new field-programmable gate array (FPGA)-based time-to-digital converter (TDC) with a wide dynamic range greater than 20 ms has been developed to monitor the timing of various pulsed devices in the trigger timing distribution system of the KEKB injector linac. The pulsed devices are driven by feeding regular as well as any irregular (or event-based) timing pulses. For monitoring the timing as precisely as possible, a 16-ch FPGA-based TDC has been developed on a Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA equipped on VME board with a time resolution of 1 ns. The resolution was achieved by applying a multisampling technique, and the accuracies were 2.6 ns (rms) and less than 1 ns (rms) within the dynamic ranges of 20 ms and 7.5 ms, respectively. The various nonlinear effects were improved by implementing a high-precision external clock with a built-in temperature compensated crystal oscillator. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] KEKBLog is the data archiving system used in the KEKB Accelerators. Currently it monitors more than 100,000 channels and accumulates more than 4GB data per day. Almost all of the archive data from the beginning of the commissioning are kept. Especially the data since 2004 are kept online. To maintain the increasing data, we have added inexpensive NAS (Network Attached Storage) several times for these years. To provide the historical information of the archiving channels to the users, the Catalogue files have been introduced. Management of archive data in KEKBLog and details of the Catalogue are reported. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] As accelerators got larger complex, it has become difficult to operate and understand whole accelerator. It is important to make effort to reduce information and to build easily configurable user-interface for operators. We have tested a building tool for graphical-user-interface called Tk in our Kek Linac control system. Tk is very efficient to develop user-interface for accelerator operation. The possible usage of Tk in our control system is described as well as its feature and performance. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Last year, the KEKB bucket selection system, which generates appropriate bunch-filling patterns in the KEKB rings, was reconstructed to accomplish the 'simultaneous injection' to the three rings, the low-energy and the high-energy rings of KEKB, and the PF ring. In this paper, we describe the main point of the reconstruction. In addition, we discuss the possible extension of this system to the SuperKEKB rings. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new type of Input/Output Controller (IOC) has been developed based on F3RP61, a CPU module of FA-M3 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Since the CPU module runs Linux, it takes no special effort to run EPICS IOC core program on the CPU module. With the aid of wide variety of I/O modules of FA-M3 PLC, the F3RP61-based IOC has various applications in accelerator controls, such as magnet power supply control, monitoring interlock status, stepping motor control, data acquisition from beam monitors and so forth. The adoption of the new IOC makes the architecture of accelerator control systems simpler by unifying the two layers of front-end computers, i.e., the IOC layer and the PLC layer, into one layer. We found that the simplification of the control system architecture helps us to reduce the time and cost for the development and maintenance of application software. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new image processing system was developed based on EPICS and the FA-M3 PLC made by Yokogawa Electric Corporation. The hardware of the system comprises an F3RP61 CPU module running Linux and an F3UM02 frame grabber module. The CPU functions as an IOC to analyze the raw image data acquired and transferred by the frame grabber on the PCI-bus which connects the two modules. A custom record, graphicsRecord, holds the raw image data, the results of analysis and parameters set by the user over the network. GUI panels were created by using EDM in order to display the image and to set relevant control parameters into the fields of the graphicsRecord on the F3RP61-based IOC. It was confirmed that the developed system is able to acquire image data, analyze them appropriately, and send them over the network to a host computer to display the results of analysis. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The network communication libraries for the next control system of the KEK Linac have been developed. They are based on TCP/IP sockets, and show high availability among the different operating systems: UNIX, VAX/VMS, and MS-DOS. They also show high source portability of application programs among the different computer systems provided by various vendors. The performance and problems are presented in detail. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The control system of KEK 2.5 GeV linac is being rejuvenated. The main part of the hardware will be replaced and the architecture of its software is upgraded as well. System software has been developed to achieve new control scheme as well as old one. Since we invested in operator's console system which uses old control messages, we will continue support it. The new control scheme is based on the object oriented design of accelerator controls. It will enable the flexible and robust linac controls. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The KEK 2.5 GeV linac is controlled by a distributed processor network having minicomputers and microcomputers interconnected with fiber-optic networks. This system has operated for seven years; however, the system capability has become inadequate for the increasing demands. Thus a new network system, using the TCP/IP protocol suite over Ethernet, has been introduced. New control software to enable more reliable operation of the linac is now under development. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Since the beam spot size reaches nanometers at a final focusing region in future linear colliders, vibration displacement must be suppressed to the order of nanometers, which will be called dynamic alignment hereafter. A technique involving laser interferometers allows such precise measurements of the displacements of accelerator components. In the alignment of linear accelerators, the most important quantity to be measured is transverse to the laser direction, which defines a reference line. In order to realize it, the possibility of using phase conjugate mirrors with a laser interferometer was investigated
