AbstractAbstract
[en] The author won the Nobel price of physics in 1979 with S. Weinburg and A. Salam for their theory on the unification of weak and electromagnetic forces. This book reports on the research work of the author, his main discoveries and the aim of his work on matter and universe structure. (J.S.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Some essential aspects of the standard model in elementary particle physics are discussed: for the moment all hope is abandonned to include gravity in the theory; the validity of relativistic quantum mechanic is assumed; matter is assumed to be made of quarks and leptons, and quarks to come in colors and flavors; why are observable states necessarily color singlets; it is expected that interactions involving quark flavors are carried by a non-Abelian gauge theory; how many flavors have quarks. It is stressed that the so-called standard model remains incomplete
