AbstractAbstract
[en] Theoretical volumes calculated from the reciprocal of the plasma concentration of 131J-Jodohippurate were compared in 95 patients with clearance values calculated by the 2-compartment-method and in 18 patients with conventional PAH-clearance. For estimating Hippurate-clearance from a single blood sampling the most favorable time is 45 min. after injection (r = 0.96; clearance 400/ml/min.: r = 0.98). Clearance values may be derived from the formula: C = 0.4 + 7.26 V - 0.021 x V2 (V = injected activity/activity per l plasma taken 45 min. after injection). The simplicity, precision and reproducibility of the above mentioned clearance-method is emphasized. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The article describes the TLD (LiF-TDL 100) using a dismountable Alderson-Rando phantom of the skull for determining the radiation dose to the patient during craniocervical panoramic zonography of head and neck by means of 'Zonarc'. The highest measured organ doses are in the area of the Gl. parotis, and are 0.88 mGy for each exposure imaging the dental status, and 0.57 mGy for each exposure for panoramic zonography of the ear. Assessments made with all avaible Zonarc programs for panoramic zonography have shown doses that all lie below the reported results for panoramic radiography and for linear or multidirectional tomographic techniques. AbstractAbstract
[en] Twenty asymptomatic smokers, preselected by methods of lung function, that had peripheral respiratory diseases (small airways disease) were examined with a radio aerosol with very small particles. The small-airways patients occupy a mean location between a lung healthy control collective (n = 15) and a comparison group of chronic bronchio-obstructed patients (n = 30) with respect to the pulmonary distribution homogeneity of the inhalated test particles. The most remarkable distortion of pulmonary auto-cleaning functions (mucociliary clearance) could be recorded in the group with small-airway disease. The possible prognostical importance of this result is discussed. (orig.)

(orig.)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] The signal to noise ratio (quotient of contrast and mean noise) is a quality parameter for identifying activity gaps during single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). Contrast and mean noise level are site-dependent on the reconstruction plane which is influenced in a complex manner by absorption conditions (strong or weak absorption), modes of rotation (full angle or partial angle imaging), interdependencies of opposing partial projections (arithmetic or geometric mean), magnitude of defect (relative to the resolution of the imaging system), geometry of the object to be measured, and scatter. In the present study the authors performed analysis and graphical representation of the SPECT imaging properties on the basis of model calculations illustrated by phantom measurements. The optimal conditions of examination or evaluation and the diagnostic criteria in SPECT of the heart, liver, brain and pelvis are discussed by comparative calculation of signal to noise ratios in defect identification. AbstractAbstract
[en] Renal function studies with radioisotopes are based on the physiological conditions of the renal excretion mechanisms and the radiopharmacology. The available techniques vary, but here the discussion is restricted to the clearance measurements, the radiorenography and renal function studies in regions of interest using a scintillation camera. Experiences with more than 200 examinations by means of the last method are described in detail. Although the function of each kidney in many cases can be studied by the conventionally performed renogram, renal function studies made as an integral of distinct regions of interest together with sequential scintigrams give excellent functional and morphological information on each kidney as a whole as well as on selected areas. AbstractAbstract
[en] Tomographic studies and time-dependent tomograms on phantoms and patients were carried out using a 7-pinhole collimator in order to study the clinical value of ECG-triggered tomographic radionuclid ventriculography. A suitable computer programme has been developed. The results have shown that it is possible to evaluate local contraction abnormalities by this method. Using a left oblique position of the collimator (LAO [450] - cranial [150]), emission computer tomography is aligned with the longitudinal axis for the heart. In this way, a single projection is sufficient to show the montility of the anterior and posterior walls and of the septum. Hypokinesis, akinesis or dyskinesis can be recognised visually. The localisation and extent of the defect can be determined through the 7-pinhole collimator. Reconstructed images of the triggered radionuclid scintigrams show excellent marginal definition. In the RAO projection the left ventricle can be seen without superimposition and images obtained which equal those of a first-pass technique. (orig.)

(orig.)Original Title
