One studied energy dependences of the effective cross sections of electron excitation of the satellite lines within 7-10 eV energy range. The effective cross sections of excitation of dielectron satellites constitutes ∼ 10-17 cm2 that is comparable with the efficiency of excitation of the laser lines

[en] Using ultrasoft X-ray (USX) spectroscopy in crossed modulated beams systematic investigation of electron impact s-ionization for K+, Rb+ and Cs+ ions from the threshold to 300 eV is carried out. Energy dependences are studied and effective cross sections of USX-doublet component excitation are determined. Near their excitation threshold a resonance structure which origin is explained by ion capture of bombarding electrons with simultaneous excitation of these ion outer shell s- and p-electrons. Summing USX-doublet component excitation cross sections s-ionization effective cross sections compared to those calculated by Lotz formula as well as to total cross sections of electron impact ionization for K+, Rb+ and Cs+ ions are determined

Investigation was conducted by detection of vacuum ultraviolet radiation, occurring in radiation transitions from autoionization states (FIS) of 6s6p2-configuration to the ground 6s26p 2P01/2,3/2-stable of Tl atom and from AIS of 6s6p(3P0, 1P0)np-configuration to excited levels of Tl atom. Спектроскопическим методом в пересекающихся пучках впервые исследовано возбуждение отдельных компонент резонансного 4p2P1/2,3/20-дублета иона Zn+ электронным ударом. Обнаруженная на энергетических зависимостях эффективных сечений возбуждения четкая структура (в том числе и за потенциалом ионизации иона) связана преимущественно с распадом на резонансные уровни автоионизационных состояний атома и иона цинка, образованных при возбуждении электрона из субвалентной 3d10-оболочки. [en] Dielectronic recombination of Zn+ and Cd+ ions involving electron excitation of the ion ns core with simultaneous resonance capture of an incident electron into the doubly-excited intermediate autoionizing np2 1S0-state followed by its radiative stabilization np2 → nsnp + hν was observed and investigated using an ultrahigh-vacuum apparatus with crossed electron and ion beams. The effective cross sections of dielectronic recombination at the maximum were 0.9×10-17 cm2 for Zn+ and 1.6×10-17 cm2 for Cd+, which were comparable with those for electron excitation of the resonance lines of the studied ions. The high probability of radiative decay of the autoionizing np2 1S0-state was due to relativistic and correlation effects. (authors)

Resonance structure conditioned by the contribution of autoionization states of thallium atom into the population of the 63P1 level of thallium ion.
