AbstractAbstract
[en] The author shows how the semiclassical method can be generalized when the expansion is not around solutions of field equations but around a more general set of field configurations. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The Euler-Lagrange equations following from the two-dimensional Higgs-type Lagrangian and from the chirally nonlinear Lagrangian are shown to be reducible to one second order differential equation. This simplification is possible for an arbitrary configuration of static parallel vortex-lines but only for a specific potential. In both cases the result is connected with a saturated bound for the energy and also with conditions arising from the scale variation

AbstractAbstract
[en] An approximate analytic solution of the equations of motion of the 't Hooft magnetic monopole model is proposed. Virial type global tests are carried out for the solution. Then, the monopole mass, energies of the vector field A/sub mu/sup a/, Higgs field phi/sup a/ and interaction are computed in closed form. The form factors of A/sub i/sup a/ and phi/sup a/ in a quantized version are also calculated

AbstractAbstract
[en] Off-shell four point functions of massless fermions in a pseudoparticle background are calculated. The results are exact to lowest order quantum fluctuations about the classical pseudoparticle field. Only pseudoparticle solutions of unit winding number contribute to the calculated correlation functions. The developed technique requires knowledge only of the zero frequency fermion solutions in the pseudoparticle potential

AbstractAbstract
[en] Gauge invariant Green's functions of quark-antiquark bilinear densities in massless, two-color QCD are studied. Nonzero-energy fermion modes, pseudoparticle solutions with topological charge absolute value ν > 1, and n-point functions with n > 2. Some general properties of the O(Dirac constant) approximation are developed, enabling one to isolate and define the terms which contribute to a general n-point function. The higher effects it is found preserve the symmetry breakdown found earlier in the 2-point function (U(2) x U(2) → SU(2) x SU(2) x U(1)). It is shown that a previous 2-point function analysis is exact to order Dirac constant

AbstractAbstract
[en] Approximate vortex-line and soliton solutions of the Higgs-type Lagrangian are obtained analytically, and the magnetic field, magnetic energy and its root mean square radius, Higgs energy, and interaction energy between the vector field A/sub μ/ and the Higgs scalar phi are calculated. The soliton solution for another case is commented on

AbstractAbstract
[en] It is shown that the calculation of quantum effects associated with the classical four dimensional pseudoparticle can be carried to completion in the one loop, lowest order in source approximation, with size effects calculated exactly. The result is finite, and leaves symmetry breaking results intact. For the case of two flavors the theory reduces to a particularly simple form which suggests that the pseudoparticle acts as a source of zero mass bosons which in turn are made of fermion pairs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Massless QCD is studied with regard to mass generation and chiral SU(N/sub f/) symmetry breaking from pseudoparticle effects. While mass is generated when there is only one massless quark, and chiral U(1) is always broken, no rigorous indication of the breaking of chiral SU(N/sub f/) and mass generation is seen when there are more than one massless quarks in the original theory
