AbstractAbstract
[en] From an analysis of inclusive lepton in data collected by the ALEPH detector at LEP, the b and c semileptonic branching ratios are measured applying a binned maximum likelihood fit on the (p,pt) lepton plane. The average fragmentation are also allowed to vary in the fit. Two independent measures are performed using electrons and muons. By combining them, Br(b→l)=10.3±0.49±0.020 and Br(c→l)=9.32±1.01 is obtained, where the standard model values have been assumed. (author) 3 refs.; 1 tab

AbstractAbstract
[en] The principal component analysis is applied to a data sample, with the aim of retaining the smallest number of variables necessary to adquately describe the data. We find that in a particular example, of the initial 20 variables necessary to fully describe the data, only 10 principal components suffice to determine their structure. The application of these ideas to obtain a fast Monte Carlo event generator is discussed in detail for particle physics. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The latest results, still preliminary, of tests dedicated to study the performance of Resistive Plate Chamber for the CMS experiment are presented. Full efficiency with a 2 ns time resolution in conditions of incident flux up to 2 kHz/cm2 has been obtained. Detector uniformity has been studied and found to be well within the constraints due to the large surfaces used in the experiment. An aging test is currently being carried out and shows no significant performance variation with time
