AbstractAbstract
[en] Main specific features of linear resonance heavy-ion accelerators are discussed. Among these are methods of the initial acceleration stage, and methods of accelerating particles of different types. A table listing the main parameters of the SUPERHILAC (USA) and the UNILAC (FRG) accelerators as well as multiple-charged ion linear accelerators of the Manchester University and of the Kharkov Physico-Technical Institute is given. The table enables one to judge the applicability of beams obtained in these accelerators for the solution of radiation physics problems

[en] In spite of a series of catastrophes including those of global character, the power of nuclear fission is considered as a sole source of energy which provides the long-term industrial development of mankind. The development of nuclear power results in earth contamination with radioactive wastes. However, another way of nuclear power development is possible which excludes the reactor runaway and accumulation of toxic and radioactive elements. This way permits transmutation of long-lived wastes. Such a safe and ecologically clean nuclear power is based on obtaining a new kind of fission materials -uranium 233. A concept of electrical nuclear breeding and state of this work development in Kharkov Physico-Technical Institute is considered. 24 refs., 1 tab., 3 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] A review of the known heavy ion accelerators is given. It is stated that cyclic and linear accelerators are the most perspective ones in the energy range up to 10 MeV/nucleon according to universality in respect with the possibility of ion acceleration of the wide mass range. However, according to the accelerated beam intensity of the heavier ions the linear accelerators have considerable advantages over any other types of accelerators. The review of the known heavy ion linac structures permits to make the conclusion that a new modification of an accelerating structure of opposite pins excited on a H-wave is the most perspective one

AbstractAbstract
[en] It is well known that in both space and laboratory irregularities can develop, which are accurately modeled in the MHD approximation. MHD oscillations in such irregularities can develop resonant structures, similar to dielectric resonators in electrodynamics. This phenomenon is of independent interest since a substantial amount of energy can be stored in the resonant irregularities. One of the simplest models of such irregularities is a sphere. It can be investigated in detail theoretically and is subject to experimental verification under laboratory conditions. The scattering of MHD waves by resonant magnetohydrodynamic irregularities in a hydrodynamic flow is considered. A rigorous solution of the problem is obtained in terms of integral equations. The velocity and magnetic field inside an MHD sphere are calculated. The geometric resonances arising from scattering by such a sphere are investigated. The resonance conditions are formulated. The solution of the problem of a plane wave scattering from an MHD sphere is analyzed

[en] The methods of obtaining regular intense longitudinal electromagnetic waves in vacuum or plasma space are described. These waves are formed in a vacuum space, if the beams pass through the paramagnetic resonance region. Slow waves are due to anomalous Doppler effect. At the beam transport through the plasma region a wave of wide-frequency spectrum is formed which is due to plasma-beam instability and which is modulated under the repetition signal of a small amplitude. A possibility of using the obtained fields for the acceleration of high energy ions is discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Mechanism of atom acceleration in x radiation flux at the expense of a pulse transmitted to the atom under a photoeffect from the internal shell is considered. It is ascertained that under the x-ray quantum energy Eγ >or approx.EK (absorption K-edge energy) the atom is accelerated along radiation propagation trajectory and Eγ≥EK the atom is accelerated in the opposite direction. A possibility of applying this effect for atom acceleration is considered for the first time. Formulae for acceleration rate are derived. The maximum possible acceleration rate performed for accelerated Ar atoms gives about 100 GeV/m under ∼2.7x1023 W/cm2 power flux. Such accelerator efficieny grows with the increase of accelerated atom finite energy ∼√E. Under Ar atom acceleration up to 1 GeV the accelerator efficiency is ∼10%. Difficulties related to the way of this acceleration technique realization are discussed. A possibility of realizing the described acceleration mechanism under the natural conditions near x-ray astrophysical sources and its effect on the substance distribution in the cosmic space is underlined. Atom selection by mass occuring near such sources (the light atoms are accelerated towards the source and heavy ones-backwards) can be one of the reasons for relative enrichment of cosmic radiation by heavy elements and star enrichment by light elements (star fuel). A possible process of a star formation near the X-ray source is described

[en] An equation for impedance linear vibrator in presence of a round cylindrical screen is obtained. A solution of this equation with the help of averaging method for symmetric and asymmetric current components and accounting of their feedback is found. Asymptotic expressions obtained permit to describe in a single form the case of resonance as well as non-resonance scattering at the arbitrary excitation regime. The results obtained may be used in calculations of UHF, antenna and accelerating installations in which cylindrical screens charged with impedance linear vibrator are used. 12 refs. (author)
