AbstractAbstract
[en] This book contains papers presented at the Symposium on Nuclear Physics held at Bombay during 21-24 December 1992. These deal with various areas of nuclear physics. They are, evolution of heavy ion reaction dynamics from sub-barrier to Fermi energies, nuclear structure, excitation modes and nuclear decay, low and medium modes and nuclear decay, low and medium energy nuclear reactions, intermediate energy nuclear reactions and non nucleonic degrees of freedom, hadronic interaction, nuclear matter and nuclear astrophysics, relativistic nuclear collisions and quark-gluon phase, nuclear instrumentation and experimental techniques, accelerators and accelerator based physics research. The text of the papers are published in the style of an extended summary or abstract. They have been processed separately for inclusion in the INIS Database. (N.B.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The transition nuclei in the nuclear landscape provide a situation where single particle and collective mode co-exist. In some cases, the rotation due to special coupled few nucleons system is much more dominate than the single and collective system. Thus, the spectroscopy of these transition nuclei provide information which will help to understand the bridge between the single particle excitation and collective degree of freedom. In this talk, I will discuss a schematic model base on semi classical (SC) approach to explain MR band-crossing. The MR band-crossing occurs due to the alignment of a pair of valence nucleon and the shear blades re-open to built up a new shear band. Apart from this, the results on the transition probability in the transitional Sr isotopes will be discussed to understand the role of nucleons in the rotation of special coupled few nucleons system. In addition it, I will explain the critical point phase transition specially E(5) in these transition nuclei. In future plan, the lifetime measurements and g-factor for isomeric state of these nuclei will be the important focus of our study

AbstractAbstract
[en] The high-spin states in a nucleus can be generated by a collective rotation either about a principal axis or a tilted axis. The total angular momentum is produced by coupling the neutron and proton angular momentum vectors through specific coupling schemes. The magnetic rotation which is built with the coupling of two angular momentum can undergoes band-crossing due to the alignment of a nucleon pair. From the geometry of MR band, the B(M1) value for the states in the crossing region can be calculated assuming that the aligned angular momentum is quantized. The present Semi Classical (SC) calculation shows good agreement with the experimental observations in mass A∼100 and A∼200 regions. Apart from this, it also provides the core contribution, if it is contributing to the generation of total angular momentum. However, in some nuclei a transition from the principal axis to the tilted axis is observed. From the experimental observers such as staggering, B(M1) transition rates etc., it is possible to observe this phase transition. In this work, we are reporting such a phenomenon in the "8"5Sr nucleus

AbstractAbstract
[en] Magnetic Rotation (MR) band crossing is studied systematically in N=78 isotones (La, Pr, Pm and Eu) using Tilted Axis Cranking (TAC) model. The observables such as I(¯h) vs ¯hω, excitation energy E(MeV) vs spin I(¯h), and the B(M1)/B(E2) vs I(¯h) were considered to pinpoint MR crossing in these nuclei. The results of tilted axis cranking were compared with these experimental observables. The B(M1) and B(E2) values were also reported and used to understand the crossing behaviour of these MR bands. The systematic evolution of this phenomenon in N=78 odd-Z istotones leads to understand the role of nucleons in MR band crossing

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this talk the characterization and use of a 1 m2 plastic detector array for neutron time-of-flight measurements using stable heavy ion beams at the Mumbai Pelletron Linac Facility are discussed. The preliminary results from two experiments: gamma-ray multiplicity gated neutron spectra in the 12C+93Nb reaction at E (12C) = 40 MeV and neutron spectra in coincidence with alpha particles in the 7Li+205Tl reaction at E (7Li) = 30 MeV. I are presented and the different setups developed at PLF, Mumbai to study nuclear reactions involving measurements of the neutrons, high energy gamma-rays and charged particles in coincidence with the gamma-rays detected in a BGO γ-multiplicity setup, and/or residues detected in a parallel plate avalanche counter placed in a very forward direction are also presented
