AbstractAbstract
[en] After having recalled the usual diagnosis techniques (failure index, decision tree) and those based on an artificial intelligence approach, the author reports a research aimed at exploring the knowledge and model generation technique. He focuses on the design of an aid to model generation tool and aid-to-diagnosis tool. The bond graph technique is shown to be adapted to the aid to model generation, and is then adapted to the aid to diagnosis. The developed tool is applied to three projects: DIADEME (a diagnosis system based on physical model), the improvement of the SEXTANT diagnosis system (an expert system for transient analysis), and the investigation on an Ariane 5 launcher component. Notably, the author uses the Reiter and Greiner algorithm

AbstractAbstract
[en] The 241Am total and fission cross sections have been measured in the resonance region, using the 60MeV Saclay linac as a pulsed neutron source. The resonance parameters obtained by a single level shape analysis of the transmission data are given for 189 levels up to 150eV neutron energy. The mean level spacing, corrected for 18% of missed resonances in the 0 to 50eV energy range, is (0.55+-0.05)eV. The s-wave neutron strength function value, in the 0 to 150eV energy range, is equal to (0.94+-0.09)10-4. The average radiation width obtained from 43 resonances is (43.77+-0.72)MeV. Only preliminary results of the fission experiment are available now; 38 fission widths are given up to 32eV neutron energy, with the average value GAMMA(f) approximately equal to 0.23MeV; the statistical distribution of these fission widths corresponds to a X2 law with 4 degrees of freedom. An area analysis of the Los Alamos fission data has also been done, from which we obtain 36 GAMMA(f) values in the 20eV to 50eV energy range; the corresponding average value is: GAMMA(f) approximately equal to 0.52MeV; the statistical distribution obeys to a X2 law with 15 degrees of freedom, in desagreement with the Saclay results

AbstractAbstract
[en] SEXTANT, an expert system for the analysis of transients, was built initially to study physical transients in nuclear reactors. It combines several knowledge bases concerning measurements, models and qualitative behavior of the plant with a generate-and-test mechanism and a set of numerical models of the physical process. The integration of an improved diagnosis method using a mixed model in SEXTANT in order to take into account the existence and the reliability of only a few number of sensors, the knowledge on failure and the possibility of non anticipated failures, is presented. This diagnosis method is based on two complementary qualitative models of the process and a methodology to build these models from a system description. 8 figs., 17 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The elastic scattering of slow neutrons by 239Pu was measured in the range 16 eV-300 eV by the time-of-flight method in the 45 MeV Saclay linear accelerator used as a pulsed-neutron source. The detector, which was placed at 32 m flight distance, consisted of six photomultipliers equipped with liquid scintillators filled with boron-10, of the Jackson and Thomas type. The γ-rays were eliminated by form discriminators. Constituted as it is of hydrogenated organic compounds, this detector is also sensitive to fast neutrons. To determine the contribution of the fission neutrons, the authors included in the detector two photomultipliers equipped with NE 213 liquid scintillators to detect fast neutrons through the intermediary of recoil protons. Using a Cf source the relative efficiency of the two types of scintillator was measured. The elastic scattering curve was then obtained from the difference, and normalization was effected by comparison with a lead sample. The results were corrected for the effect of multiple scattering and self-absorption. The 239Pu sample consisted of a metal plate 5 cm in diameter covered with two aluminium foils, each 0.012 mm thick. Two thicknesses, 0.08 mm and 0.13 mm, were used in order to check the quality of the corrections. The values obtained are presented and the results are compared with those published by other laboratories. (author)

(author)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] A high-resolution measurement of slow-neutron elastic scattering from 239Pu has been carried out by the time-of-flight method, using the Saclay 45-MeV linear accelerator as pulsed neutron source. An analysis of the experimental data, in conjunction with that of the total cross-section of Saclay, allowed the spin of 112 resonances in the energy range of 0-660 eV to be determined. With the help of certain assumptions, these results allow a classification of all resonances analysed into two groups corresponding to the two spins J = 0+ and J = 1+. A study of the mean widths <Γf>0+ and <Γf>1+ in energy intervals of 110 eV confirms the existence of an intermediate structure in the fission cross-section due to channel 1+. This intermediate structure is responsible for the large fluctuations of α in the energy range of 0-660 eV. (author)

(author)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have studied the processes of photocoloration and discoloration in Mn:YAlO3 and relevant crystals. We show the following: (1) The coloration rate in Mn:YAlO3 does not depend on Mn concentration. (2) The effective recombination time of free electrons with Mn5+ ions and deep traps is of the order of ∼0.5 ms. (3) The rate of photocoloration increases with an increase in temperature. (4) The discoloration kinetics in Mn:YAlO3 are strongly nonexponential. At room temperature the effective discoloration time approximates 120 years. (5) At increased temperatures the discoloration kinetics accelerate dramatically. (6) We have grown and characterized Mn:GdAlO3 and Mn:YbAlO3 crystals. The activation energy in these crystals is much larger than that in Mn:YAlO3. This suggests the great potential of MnYbAlO3 and Mn:GdAlO3 in terms of permanent data storage
