AbstractAbstract
[en] Diffusion of Zn and S in Si was studied by monitoring spreading-resistance profiles after penetration from the vapour phase. Both foreign atoms (Zn, S=X) were found to undergo interstitial (i)-substitutional (s) exchange mediated by self-interstitials (I): Xi ↔ Xs + I. In plastically deformed Si the diffusion process is Zni- or Si-controlled due to a high density of I-absorbing dislocations. In dislocation-free Si the Zn incorporation is I-controlled since the outflow of I to the surface is much smaller than the inflow of Zni from the surface. For S the flow of I can be smaller or larger than that of Si depending on the partial-pressure-induced equilibrium concentration of the latter. This unique property explains the variety of the S-profile shape observed on dislocation-free Si. (author) 8 refs., 4 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] During the evolution of lung cancer, bronchial obstruction is often noticed and is sometimes responsible for serious symptoms. Several methods of des-obstruction can be proposed, including brachytherapy. Materials and methods: One hundred forty-nine patients, presenting with endobronchial brachytherapy were included into the study. Seventy-three were treated with curative intent, 47 with palliative intent and 29 with a combination of external irradiation and brachytherapy. We usually delivered a series of two 7-Gy fractions (1 cm from the catheter), the treatment being repeated one, two or three times. Results: When all symptoms were taken into account, respiratory function improvement was present in 79% of the patients. Among the 132 tumors that could be evaluated via a new endoscopy 2 months after treatment, 64 (48.5%) were in complete histological remission. The median survival was 14.4 months for the patients treated with curative intent. Eleven massive hemoptyses and 13 radiation bronchitides were observed. Conclusion: These results confirm the feasibility and good results related to endobronchial brachytherapy, though controlled studies are needed to better define its place in the therapeutic strategy of bronchial carcinomas. AbstractAbstract
[en] Highlights: • Gaps analyses identifying missing data for EUROFER97 material and joints performed. • Design rules for EUROFER97 specific constitutive behavior identified. • Significant progress on development of welding procedures for European TBM achieved. • Fabrication processes feasibility based on diffusion and fusion welding demonstrated. • Methodology for qualification of the developed TBMs’ welding procedures identified. - Abstract: The paper overviews activities focused on qualification of EUROFER97 structural material, introduced under a probationary phase in the nuclear components design and construction code RCC-MRx, and identification/analyses of gaps in the respective material database to be filled in. Additionally the available design rules in the code are reviewed to verify their applicability to the specificities of EUROFER97 steel and to the TBM design and fabrication. Progress achieved in development of fabrication technologies and procedures applied for manufacturing of the TBM sub-components, like, HCLL and HCPB cooling plates, stiffening plates, first wall and side caps, and for TBM structure sub-assembly is described. The used technologies are based on fusion (laser and TIG) and diffusion (HIP) welding techniques taking into account specificities of the EUROFER97 steel. With help of the agreed notified body, an appropriate approach/methodology for qualification of the developed, TBMs-related preliminary welding procedure specifications has been identified and future steps established.
